Hello,
We just released a new version of VirtualDJ, v6.0.7.
As usual, this version is free for all registered users of VirtualDJ Pro and VirtualDJ Basic.
You can download it from your download center.
This version has an improved video engine, adds many new natively supported controllers, and fixes a few harmless bugs.

Crates still don't work although it's nice to be able to overwrite playlists, but you still can't delete them from within VDJ. I guess this update was mostly designed to fix all the video bugs I've been reading about. What happened to NetSearch btw?

Damn...was really hoping for that NS7 mic fix in this one!

soooo fix that issue with memory vs cpu usage? Any chance of a demo version to try before upgrading?
My apologies if this sounds like sarcasm, the mac version of this software seems to be a white elephant in regards to video both in the forums and Support/Help tickets. Been about a month now and no response from Atomix.

This is beyond ridiculous. Same problems as before. Video cue screens still dont move with full screen. Videos are choppy or slow motion. Come on guys. Version 5 is still better. Mac recommends you and Mac users are unhappy. Why dont you team up with Mac and fix these problems. Enough is enough.

Guys i personally spent hours tesing this version and my mac is as follows
17 inch mpb (non unibody)
2.6 ghz core2duo
4 gigs of ram
8600 mgt (rev2)
500 gb hdd & 2tb external usb
10.6.2
I have absoultely no show stopping issues mixing video from mp4 to vob. I actually played live with it for 4 hours last Friday using a vci300. Using the mixlab 3.1 skin. I'm not sure what problems you are having with the video but I can tell you I'm not seeing those here on this mac. In Fact I'm mixing on it while writing this post via spaces and porting the video out to my tv. I'm pretty satisfied with the version. On a personal note posting rants in this thread isn't going to solve anything.

So far I have tested this version on an two different mac book pro unibodies and both videos are stuttering with some audio glitches.
One is running 10.5.8 and the other 10.5.6, both run videos with fine with virtual dj version 5.2.1
DJ Cyder are you running Leopard or Snow Leopard?

Latencey is set to auto
Optimise for quality
Simple Algatrithim
Basic IMplementation is set ti basic
Master Temp is set to fast.
99% of my videos are Mix Mash all encoded using h.264 @ 720x576 with AAC stereo @ 4800 khtz 23.98 fps
Denon HC4500
System
Mac Book Pro Unibody Nov 2008
10.5.6
2.53 Intel COre Due

Im willing to test fully to get this sorted so pls any advice solution would be great.
IS this simply a 10.5 v 10.6 issue?
Have your beta testers fully tested this release on 10.5?

Interesting. Thanks for the information. I'm going to download and run tests this weekend. But I've been pretty disgusted with the Mac version since dumping my money on it. I have all the video/audio glitches previously mentioned. This will be a final attempt to get a gig ready app for video from VDJ. I've been eyeing up and have used Serato with Mix Emergency and it was/is SOLID.
MBP Snow 10.6.2
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
1.5 TB (RAID) External Drive (800 Firewire)
Disabled Dashboard, always turn off Airport, File Sharing, etc...
I'll post my findings this weekend...

I should note whenever a newer version comes out I do the following on my mac maybe this will work for some of you
1. user app zapper to remove old VDJ (backup databases for local drives)
2. Reboot and repair permission from the install disk
3. Download vdj and lock the dmg file
4. Look for driver updates and run clean my mac to remove any crap sitting there
5. Repair permission from within osx after the installs
I never turn off dashboard or wifi or disable anything in osx, in fact I use istat to keep tabs on the macs temp during the gig. I also have an 8 inch fan blowing across my setup whenever I gig the mac and external drive stay nice and cool. This particular mac has had issues about 4 months ago the video card in it died and was sent to apple for repair it came back with a different video card version then before.

I also use iStat. And a fan. And I have one of the MBP's that also had a failed video card. I haven't used VDJ since getting it back from Apple. Looking forward to seeing if the VDJ with this new video processor performs any differently.

Well, here I am again posting what I thought would be good news, but once again Atomix have rushed a piece of software out the door without testing it. 6.0.7 is an epic fail. Sound quality is back to poor, platter on Denon HS5000 has platter warble again, not to mention that you can't use the spinning platter at all if you want to use both layers. Can't use 2 HS5500 players at the same time. I could go on and on, but why bother. I am here to say I give up, f this company and their POS software. I'm getting a Denon X1600 mixer and Video SL, because it works and there is finally an alternative to VDJ for Denon users.
For those that want to stick around and tough it out, here is some advice. STOP USING MP4 AND VOB FILES IN VDJ THEY REQUIRE TOO MUCH CPU POWER TO DECODE. MAKE ALL YOUR VIDEOS PHOTO JPEG MOVIES. THESE FILES DO NOT HAVE KEYFRAMES, WHICH IS WHAT IS CAUSING VDJ TO STUDDER, SKIP, POP OR WHATEVER. THE BASIC RULE IS, IF YOU WANT TO SCRATCH OR PLAY BACKWARDS VIDEO IT SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY KEY FRAMES. You can find articles online explicating what key, delta and i frames are andhow they effect playback of your videos.
The most stable version of VDJ is 6.0.4 with videos in PJpeg format, but I am not going to invest into a program or company that put our crap like this.
Good luck Atomix, you need it.

I have no such problems, 100% video mixing with transitions. I use thousands of .vobs all original DVD cuts and a few MP4 from 7 digital and itunes. I always play straigth about 6 hours at the least.
Macobook Pro Unybody
2.66 GHZ - Snow Leopard
Nvidia 9600GT/9400M
(2) 2 TB External HDs
Edirol FA66 Firewire
NI Audio Kontrol 1 USB 2.0
Numark Total Control
What I notice is a little flicker, just that.
Enjoy

Did some testing today on snow leopard on the iMac in my office and there does not seem to stuttering.
It seems that people still on leopard are experiencing the stuttering.
After the gigs this weekend I will upgrade the gig machine (MBP) and report more.
Just before I do that is there any issues with the HC4500 and snow leopard?

Does app zapper remove the Virtual DJ folder from the documents and if so how do you move the databases back after you have installed the new version?
I notice in the header lines of the xml it refers to the version number will that not cause a problem?

Since I've downloaded the new version, i haven't been able to pull anything off of netsearch. This has never happened before and when i pull the file into the deck, i get the "stream unavailable-error" message for EVERY FILE. It's been continuous for 3 days. Help?
