Topic: RMX & always default mapper? can't disable?

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Hi

I'm used to map differently Rmx. but I just want to get rid off theses parameters.

EQ_LOW
EQ_MID
EQ_High
GAIN
BALANCE
VOLUME
CROSSFADER

Long story short, I'm using Ableton Live. But I still & will use VDJ (I need both).

So I've backed up my perfect mapper.xml (When I play with vdj alone)
Created a new one to use with ableton, so both software won't mess the whole project.

New Mapping.xml

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<mapper device="DJCRMX" author="Atomix Productions" description="RMX Ableton" version="608" date="06/05/2010">
<map value="PLAY" action="play_pause" />
<map value="STOP" action="stop" />
<map value="CUE" action="cue" />
<map value="PFL" action="select" />
<map value="LOAD" action="holding ? unload : load " />
<map value="UP" action="browser_scroll -1 &amp; deck 1 wheel_mode &apos;browser&apos; while_pressed &amp; deck 2 wheel_mode &apos;browser&apos; while_pressed" />
<map value="DOWN" action="browser_scroll +1 &amp; deck 1 wheel_mode &apos;browser&apos; while_pressed &amp; deck 2 wheel_mode &apos;browser&apos; while_pressed" />
<map value="LEFT" action="browser_folder" />
<map value="RIGHT" action="browser_window &apos;songs&apos;" />
<map value="TRACK-" action="seek -4" />
<map value="TRACK+" action="seek +4" />
<map value="PFL_MIX" action="headphone_mix" />
<map value="LED_PFL" action="select ? on" />
<map value="LED_PLAY" action="loaded ? play ? blink 500ms : off" />
<map value="LED_SOURCE" action="effect active ? on : off" />
</mapper>

So when I select this mapper, theses knobs remains with their ''default job'' even though I removed them from the mapper.
(EQ_LOW,EQ_MID,EQ_High,GAIN,BALANCE,VOLUME,CROSSFADER)

I have selected ableton rmx.xml mapper.
In mappers folder there's only ableton rmx.xml and keyboard mapping.xml
I still see the perfect mapper (in vdj mapper, even if the perfect mapper is removed from the mappers folder, WEIRD !)

Someone aware how to do this ??

bump

I solved my issue, not being able to disable default actions.

<map value="CROSSFADER" action="nothing" /> (so use verb nothing, to basicly do NOTHING. just looking through verbs took at shot at it. )

now new issue.

When VDJ load up, it prefer a mapper.xml (in my case rmx ableton).
so If I want to change mapper, I need to rename this :

<mapper device="DJCRMX" to <mapper device="DJCRMX1"

why? vdj doesn't understand sentence DJCRMX1.
Nice solution. But I know i'm gonna play live. And I cannot close vdj and do this everytime I need to switch between both.

Why do I not use setting -) mappers, select the one I want, and should work. Because it doesn't want to switch between both even though it is selected ??!! (It doesn't follow action from the newly selected mapper)

Unexplainable. Someone knows why?

VDJ will only recognise one mapper file per controller, and AFAIK this is detected when the controller is detected which is usually on VDJ startup.

I think you mess up something there. I use my own RMX mapper and have no issues. I rename my XML file From Hercules RMX.XML to something else. Also change the value in the file to be found in VirtualDJ Mappers with my personal name just as you do.

Nothing changes, VirtualDJ Pro would take your personal mapper settings for work with VirtualDJ, unless you don't have a custom mapping, then VirtualDJ would take the default mapping. Don't pay attention on what is or not is displayed in mappers section. When ever you change your mapping (RMX Ableton) it would use and save it to the XML that it belongs. If you go to "Hercules DJConsole RMX" mapping (default) then you will change default mapping to another one and save it a NEW xml in your mappers directory, unless you use another name for the customized XML file you have used before (as you are).

Left things as they are, and just change your default mapping. Not need to change anything else but those 2:

1.- Name of the XML you are going to use (RMX Ableton ver1.XML, for example) and

2.- inside XML use notepad to edit: description="Hercules DJConsole RMX Ableton"

These are examples, but this is the way it would work without any problem. Don't need to change anything else in the XML header.

If you don't set correctly one button mapping, then it would not operate. If you do it right, then it would perform the action you want. "NOTHING" is an action too in VirtualDJ pro mapping.

You cannot currently switch between more than one custom mapping for the same controller on the fly.

If you have two or more for the same controller present in the My Documents\VirtualDJ\Mappers, then it will use the first that it comes across and ignore the second unless you do not have have the button mapped in the first.

If you wish to use more than one different mapping for the same controller, you will need to store the different mappings in a separate folder (E.g: On the desktop) and copy only the mapping that you wish to use into My Documents\VirtualDJ\Mappers folder before starting VirtualDJ.

NOTE: If you change the device= name, then the mapping will not be recognised because it no-longer matches any known controller definition.

Yep I already states you both above...
Issue fixed, I use button on|off so when I need ableton mapper, the function are ''nothing'' (off position) when I mix and need full function is ON position.

so I have 2 mappers in 1 nice !
