Hi I just received my mk4 and got it all setup. Ive been messing around with it for a couple hours but I cant figure out what's causing all the static in my speakers and headphones. Ive been reading & trying to find a solution but nothing seems to work, I updated the drivers and also tried different settings for the buffer size with no change. Need some help on what to try next?

Do you have the same results if your run the laptop on battery or the power supply ?
When using the power supply, are you connected on the same circuit as the speakers ?

hey, i tried running on battery and power supply separately but it didnt seem to make a difference. Also speakers and laptop are on different circuits.
Whats weird is that this morning when I tried it most of the static was gone and it sounds A LOT better but I can still notice a slight static, no idea what caused this change but I still want to get that clean sound like when I play the speakers direct through the computer. I also tried playing through iTunes with the hercules setup and it was the same bit of static as when playing through vdj.
So im wondering if theres some audio setting im missing? or if this bit of static is normal when running multimedia speakers? cheap soundcard?
I'll keep trying different settings in the ASIO buffer size but keep the ideas coming :)
Thanks!

Do you have the possibility of trying a different set of speakers by any chance ?
How about when connecting these speakers to another source ( iPod or CD player for example) ?
Did you check all cabling and wiring ? Could there be a bad connector ?

Hi, yea i tried plugging in a boombox i have and the static was still there. also my speakers sound good wen playing through ipod or laptop, its only when the mk4 is plugged in.
my headphones sound good now though, the connector was bad. so im wondering if the output jack itself is defective or if it needs to be grounded?

ive had the exact same problem, BUT i could resolve it by changing the asio buffer size..you have to open the console from the icon on the bottom right hand side, and change it to higher than it is.. BUT im stuffed if i can find out a way you can change that!

I just got a Hercules MK4 and noticed the same thing. I couldn't change the ASIO settings to higher number, the settings are greyed out.

in order to change the asio buffer in Hercules, virtual must be closed. Try using 15ms should get rid if the static

I find it odd that when I use my Dj2Go and the Numark dj I/O soundcard I get perfect sound, no cracks or static. I tried several settings, I used a two prong adapter, and I still hear static with the Hercules MK4. Has anyone been able to get the MK4 working without static?

Do you have the latest Hercules drivers and firmware installed from http://ts.hercules.com ?
Also, check the ASIO buffer setting in the Hercules control panel. It may be set to a lower setting than the DJIO, which your computer can't handle.
Please check the page above to ensure that your computer is optimised for maximum performance and low latency.

just installed the same thing.. look throught the blog section... adjust your monitor setting , then reapply the herc setting like this...
advanced settings , master primary sound card channel 1 -2 and then the hercules as channel 3-4 apply it as a asio .. now going into the herc settings in the right corner by the time and set it to work as a asio.. I will recheck your posting.

ok , the deal is you have to set itup.. reset the screen resolution to the suggested one , then open virtual dj. now go to the configure and set up the sound card. Select advanced. then select 1.main sound card channel 1-2
now add a channel click on the plus and add head phones the hercules and make it on channel 3-4. go to the set up in the lower corner you will see a record with the letters "dj on it.. now click on it...
advanced midi 1(defalt)
cross fader beatmiz curve( defalt)
headphones channel 3-4
output usb streaming
at the bottem audio mode is asio.. if this will not let you go into this mode you need to download the newest driver from here..
http://ts.hercules.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=2&fid=28&pid=179&cid=1
now install the driver for this .. set it up
restart the computer... now open virtual dj and see if it works if it doesnt I will post a solution and a link...

tested it to make it pop... go into computer set up lower the resolution and then set up sound and then go back and reset the resolution and the pop is gone. I also suggest playing a song as you change the resolution... what ever you do dont load the sms add on it totally messes with the scripting...

Have had my MK4 for about 5 months and worked quite a few gigs with it ( small and HUGE rooms ... never picked up any crackling or static (probably just jinxed myself) Running the LE version ( yes will be upgrading with IRS refund) on a Compaq presario CQ56 .... really like it maybe thinking about upping to the RMX by gonna try it out first ( my local shop has ALL the controllers set up from the mk4 to the NS7 ) to get a bit accustomed to it before you buy.
