Ok. I had initially tried the cue/play, but it didn't work for me. It seems the the trick is to press cue long enough to let the track play, then engage the platter by pressing play. That seems to work, however it presents two new problems:

1) Pressing cue resets my first cue point
2) When pressing cue/play AND holding the platter, the track plays for the first second, then stops, in which I have to rewind.

Any workarounds, or am I just missing something?

Also, when I first start VDJ, with the NS7 already running, it doesn't see the NS7 as a soundcard until I select Config > Sound Setup > Apply. I don't have to reselect anything from the dropdowns, as they are all correct. I just have to hit apply, which shouldn't be a step to fire it up.

If you turn platters off before playing track. You will not get that underwater sound. Only thing it's an extra step cuz if you want to scratch you have to turn platter back on. And you have to do that for every track unless you just blending

after much disappointment looks like this is the way it's gotta be until a new update. Im a new Mac owner since yesterday.

New MBP, quad core i7 and was hanging my head cuz of this new underwater / warbly sound eminating from the speakers. i had tried installing serato for the driver recognition. no dice. so uninstalled and found this thread. working ! I don't have to turn off the platters for every track though, it seems like that initial track for the one deck and then from there they can be turned back on and left on... or am i mistaken?

also 2 more thoughts:
1. how stable is this workaround, meaning how will it hold up when asked to rock a huge pool party for 5 hours straight?
2. SOMEbody has to have news on an updating completely restoring us dedicated VDJ-ers to sanity... :)

Definitely not a bad idea tracking this thread. thanks!

I have the same issue, and same solution. Shouldn't have to click around settings once we settle in.
