Topic: Video output smaller than screen

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I recently did a gig in a venue with a massive LED screen which I connected Virtual DJ to. The screen has a resolution of 768X384 but accepts a signal of 1024X768. The screen displays the top 384 pixels and left 768 pixels while ignoring the rest.
I setup VDJ to output the video to a window resized to fit the screen and used 3rd party software to remove the title bar. This left me with a working output but a white line (the window border) at the top of the screen. I adjusted the colour of 3D objects in windows to black which reduced the width of the white line to 1 pixel but did not remove it.

I'm wondering if anyone else has come across this setup and if there is a way of making VDJ output to the top 384 and left 768 pixels of a 1024X768 screen, without a white border at the top.

I'm running VDJ 7 on Windows 7.

Thanks
Craig

When you setup your Extended Desktop settings for the second output, why did you set the resolution higher than display abilities of the screen? You got the exact result I would have expected by setting the resolution greater than the display area.

Try changing your External Desktop settings to match the displayable area. You most likely with have to use the display drivers control panel interface to do this and not in the simple windows dialog.

My graphics card does not appear to allow me to set the resolution to 768X384. I suspect that no mainstream graphics cards support this resolution. The screen controller presents itself as an 800X600 or 1024X768 DVI monitor to windows. The screen is made up of lots of small screens and I suspect that the resolution depends on how many small screens are put together in what layout.
The software that the venue runs outputs an extended display at 800X600 or 1024X768 (it does not appear to matter which) and has a properties window which allows you to set the co-ordinates of the video on the second display output.

I think that the screen uses a standard resolution (800X600 or 1024X768) which is bigger than the resolution of the screen to allow the screen to be configured in any size or shape required and not need to resize the output.

For anyone else trying to achieve this, I have found a solution.
By using the Windows Screen Resolution Control Panel to offset the second monitor output slightly lower than the Primary monitor you can move the video output so that the left border is on the Primary (left) monitor and the title bar is above the top of the second monitor but still below the top of the Primary monitor. The Bottom and Right borders can be resized slightly outside of the screen output.
I haven't tried this at the venue yet but it should work the same as on my monitor at home.
