Topic: VDJ 7.0.4 & VMS4 Issues..... - Page: 1

Dieser Teil des Themas ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten

Had a new issue I have never experienced before since using VDJ with my VMS4.....

Last night while LIVE at a gig, of course when I had the crowd going, VDJ stop seeing my VMS4. I was forced to plug in my phone and stream a couple tracks off it while I rebooted the laptop. I've never had this happen before, and this is only the 2nd time dj'ing since upgrading to 7.0.4. I use the DJ Dad map & skin. When this happened VDJ on the laptop never stopped working though, I had to control it with the mouse on screen, and music still played and I was able to use the analog mixer section of the VMS4 (which would suggest it wasn't a USB issue, Right?), but no other controls on the VMS4 functioned at all.

I did notice my CPU meter was running higher last night then usual too. It usually stays around the 20's, last night it was never below mid 50's, and as high as 99, but when the VMS4 was working everything was ok the higher CPU usage didn't seem to matter much. I was constantly doing ctrl+shift+esc and monitoring running processes, and nothing appeared different then it usually would before I had this problem.

The laptop itself stays off in it's case all week until I go to my Friday gig, and I always have the network adapters disabled, so I know it didn't install any software updates (other than VDJ), or anything like that. Like I said to, I used it last weekend error free with 7.0.4, this is my 2nd time with the newer VDJ.

Any ideas???

I am also having issues with my vms4

I am trying to get the mixer configured so I can record through virtual dj. I followed all the steps recommended but whenever I try to save my settings in the advanced options virtual dj crashes (Thats with the mixer on). With the mixer off I can change the settings but after I close vdj start up the mixer and run vdj again with the mixer on it wont play any songs I select on any channel. And if I try to change the settings vdj just crashes.

I am completely stumped.

Ok so you guys wouldnt believe this but I figured out the problem. Apparently my mouse interfered somehow with the ASIO drivers. Now everything is working great!!!!

Its a 4 year old logitech mouse btw.

None of the updates could harm your custom mapper, unless you chose to remove or delete settings.

Check the Mydocuments\Virtualdj\Devices and Mydocuments\Virtualdj\Mappers folders and see what files are in there for VMS4?

If you goto Config->Mappers tab, and click on the drop down list.do you see VMS4 once or twice listed?

OK.......everyone else seems to be getting suggestions, or adding their other issues here on my thread.....

BUT !!!!!

Still nothing from anyone on my issue, the reason this thread exists? Kind of aggravating.

Can DJ Dad, or anyone from Atomix maybe elaborate a bit on some things I can try, or if I am just to damn stupid feel free to point that out as well, PLEASE, something is better then nothing!

Thanks,

From what i ve read at your initial post, your CPU was high that night. Have you installed an application recently? Was your computer overheated for some reason?

Was any wireless connection running at the background?

Try going back to 7.0.3 and see if it's any different.

If it still does it, then you've just eliminated 7.0.4 as the issue.

Check your computer to see if you have a restore point dated prior to your 7.0.4 upgrade that you can load back in.

Thanks for the response DJ Dad…..

But to my knowledge no updates, I did not take the computer out the gig bag all week between gigs, too busy with other things.
My typical routine when I get to a gig is to power up laptop, then go to Device Manager and disable all network adapters, if not already disabled from last week. Then go to Norton AV, disable firewall, and auto protect. Then plug in hard drives, then controller and start VDJ.

This was only my 2nd time playing live with VDJ 7.0.4, the first week went just fine. This last week about midway through the gig the VMS4 decided to not respond on the midi section (could not manipulate the mp3 track), however the analog seemed to still work (while mixing with the mouse on my laptop, I still had to raise the analog level on the VMS4 to get audio) shouldn’t that mean it was not a USB issue since I still had audio?

Yes I did notice the CPU usage meter to be running higher than usual. I pulled up running processes, and did not notice anything out of the ordinary (although I was playing live at a gig). And it did not seem to affect the audio either, no static, skips or drop outs.

Question: The “Latency Mon” program is confusing me, what areas exactly should I be looking at with it? (High ISR/DPC counts, Page faults, etc.) Some help with it would be appreciated?

Thanks,

Also,

Since this issue...and not finding any real answers for it...I have searched other hardware/software support sites for laptop performance tips, and made all the power setting changes, windows theme changes, etc I could find. I also went through add/remove programs and got rid of all the fat. Checked startup & running processes and cleaned it up as well.

I will try anything to prevent the embarrassment of a live crash again. Thank God for my Mp3 player being handy.....

Look forward to your response!

Thanks,

I can't comment on the VMS issue, but since upgrading to 7.0.4 I am getting random freezes of the program and I am using the Hercules RMX. I know it's not the known-but-denied RMX static discharge problem because that requires a total reboot of the laptop. This freeze in VDJ just requires restarting the program. At last week's gig I had to resort to windows media player and the headphone output.

Yeah...this issue is different entirely. VDJ was still running and working just fine. I could do whatever I wanted with the mouse/keyboard and finish mixing the rest of the night if I wanted to, only issue was no midi controller. Had analog mixer section working on VMS4, built-in ASIO on VMS4 working, but no controller functions.

Any help with the Latency Monitor program would be appreciated. I would like to try and figure this out tonight, since my next gig is tomorrow night.

I just really need to know exactly what I am looking for in the Latency Monitor program. Is it high ISR/DPC counts, or Pagefauilts, what exactly should I be looking at, and what exactly should I do about them?

Thanks,

Very similar problem for me last week - 2nd time out with 7.0.4 upgrade. Halfway thru long set (4 hours in) my M-Audio midi would not respond to any instruction. Kept playing using mouse control, but soon after I got a fatal error message and suggestion to press retry, but VDJ just crashed. Luckiliy my suspicions meant that I was ready with CD to take over immediately after crash. Re-opened VDJ and the next 3 hours performed perfectly. The only difference for me was that I had, at one stage before the crash, removed the mouse usb to transfer some files from a stick (not enough usb's on laptop!). Next time out I will be looking to remove NOTHING and see how things go (with CD at the ready!)

UPDATE!!!

Well.....

Still confused about what happened that night....played 2 gigs since the issues, and all went well. No problems losing VMS4 control, No high CPU usage issues, etc.

Can't explain it!

I am trying to troubleshoot a problem with a new lappy 7.0.5 and vms4 controller. DJ Dad asks in this thread if he has 2 vms4 controllers in the mapping. I do have this - one original and the one from djdad which I use. Is there a way to get rid of the original vms4 map in case this is causing an issue?

yep, just delete or move the original mapper xml out of the folder.
