Hey everybody so now that I got my setup all worked out and plan to add the finishing touches soon I have proposed an idea to one of my friends involved with the tuner scene. He runs his own auto performance business and knows a huge amount of people in the scene as well. Sometime at the end of summer we are going to throw a large car show. We are just getting going on it and developing a plan. My question is exactly what permits that we might need? We want to do it most likely at a park, with food, and a couple djs including myself. My actual job has recently done smaller car shows and they could possibly cater the event for food ( its a wing place ), and also help out in other ways. Maybe 500 people tops. I am also going to do flyers and advertising as soon as we have the basic plan figured out. It should be epic cause there are not many car shows out here. Any ideas feel free to post and let me know. So in short we will have cars, food, music, possibly activities, and maybe a trophy for best in show.

i been to quite a few car shows, you will def. want to have a few trophies depending on how you set up the event. The basic one would be "best in show" but you can also separate into smaller categories such as "best import" "best domestic" "best muscle" "work in progress". those are trophies you most commonly see. As far as permits are concerned it depends on where you live and where the show will be at. In CT, if we wanted to do one in a park or in the lot of a school, you just have to call the people in charge of that lot (which can most often be found online) and see if you can reserve the space. Most places will probably charge to hold the lot for the day. Then you just have to stick within the laws of your town as far as music goes... as in if the show is going to run into the nighttime and there is a noise ordinance for that town.
Hope this helps

Some sort of insurance policy for the event would also be recommended. Cars are expensive and people are fragile. You don't want to be on the hook for damage and or injuries at your event. Maybe have the vehicle owners sign a waiver on entry? You'll want to cover your butt at all costs.
The reason I mention this is that I was at a show once where the owner of a vehicle had his Neutral Safety Switch bypassed and fired up his car by reaching in the window. The car was in gear when it fired up and immediately took off, slamming into 2 cars in the next row. Luckily nobody was injured.
