Topic: Most favoured plugins, sound effects during song transition

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Hi,

I use Vdj 6.0.8 for my gig and I do not use any external device. Basically I have an external USB sound card which goes out to an external amp. Now I like to use Vdj to its fullest potential. Hence the question is what are the most favoured plugins, sound effects while doing song transition?

Here is mine and not in any particular order:

Loopout v2.01
Echo
Backspin
Flanger_TexZK
Cut

Thanks to all

And I am surprised that you're not registred your VDJ version and downloaded the new version 7.x.x.
As a registred user you have access to the downloads section of skins, effects, samples... etc...

Maybe nobody are interesting with your old version of VDJ, what kind of version are you using, Home, LE, Basic or Pro Full ??

Cheers, Mike

not sure what answers you expect here, most people dont use sound effects and plugins for transitioning. clean, crisp well timed and place transitions are a lot more important.

sounds to me like your hiding bad transitions with sound effects. most i would say prefer to spend their transitioning time on the mixer and the platter to ensure a smooth flowing set than be messing about with sound effects etc. and risking missing a beat or messing up their timing, undermixing or crashing the track structure.

I agree with blu to an extent, but once you have mixing down pat, if you mix to early and find yourself at the breakdown of the track mixing in a good way to save yourself is to use qb_filter "highpass filter" or even better when you become a registered pro user is the echodoppler for the track your mixing out, you don't need to crossfade out as both of the effects cut the signal of the effected track when fully wet. settings are :

echo out - 1 beat button, feedback around 50%-75% and move from dry to wet for the effect,

filter echo out - 1 beat button - feedback 100%, move from dry to wet then increase high pass from 0% to 100%

pitch warp out - 1 beat button, feedback 100%, move from dry to wet then decrease depth from where it is to 1ms

they are just some ideas you can tweek any parameter you like for different effects, you should also look at any effect that has wet/dry as they are usually the best at transitions

I also spent a bit of time scripting an effect crossfader that uses qb_filter, echodoppler, noisebell, crusher, reverb & cut, but I haven't looked at it in a while

I don't tend to use a lot of FX during a mix, although sometimes I will use a filter or beatgrid.

I have to agree with sbdj when it comes to effects less is definitely more

@synth, i tend to use looping more than i do fx or samples if i find myself at a breakdown when transitioning. loop the last 4-8 or 16 beats to continue the bass line to the next track.

beat grid isnt a bad idea, flippin double could work too i suppose.

Thanks to all of you guys...

I reason I still use VDj 6 because a lot of my keyboard mapping is written with deck default and deck active verbs. I Found that when I have used VDj 7 these mappers do not work as expected hence I am still using old version.

The reason I still use some sound effects because the kind of sounds I mix. All my music are vocal based (so not Trance, Progressive etc) hence I at times have to cut and mix.

I have not used beat grid that much..time to get into it.

I do appreciate all the response.

Regards to all
