Topic: VDJ Pro and a VMS4; nothing but problems

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Months ago i had the impulse to buy a set of turntables, something to work with my Macbook Pro. I ended up walking out with something a bit different, the aforementioned VMS4. It worked great with the VDJ LE that came with, I tried the pro trial, I loved it even more. But then I had obligations out of town, and was gone for a few months. When i cam back, the LE edition obviously didn't work. I've found how to trouble shoot that one, but that's not my problem at the moment. Before I realized i could fix it, I decided to purchase the full version.

Upon downloading the software (and of course uninstalling LE), I can even run it. I'm confronted with an error message saying "A problem has occurred, please contact our support team". This happened everytime i tried opening it. I did open a ticket with support about this issue, several actually, and never got anything back.

So i've given up, go a couple months without even looking at my vms4. I try again tonight, reinstall VDJ with success! Almost. I now have the problem, where the controller does not work. I have the same effect of mashing a keyboard hoping to form coherent sentences, when I use anything on the vms4. I'm going to list everything that does or doesn't happen here, in an easier to read fashion.

-Volume control does not control the proper track (the farthest left control will move track 3 on screen)
-The crossfader works more like an on off button
-Cannot cue tracks, any track i load and play, comes out on the master mix
-Sometimes two different volume controls will control the same track
-The only sound going to headphones is the master mix
-Assigning what decks i want to a side of the crossfader has no effect

And the list does go on. I can't even use the play button to play a track at the moment, even after restoring factory settings. I have a feeling uninstalling everything again, then starting with the LE that came with my vms4, upgrading from that copy to the full version with my cd key, might work. Am i crazy to think that? I'd of tried it now, except that i can't find the disc that came with my vms4, and i have tried downloading the LE from the site.

I am having no problems with my VMS4 so perhaps I can help you.

Have you downloaded and installed the drivers for the VMS4?

Does your VMS4 show connected when you plug in the USB?

Let me know... maybe you can give me a call some evening and we can compare settings.

Same here, mine works fine with VDJ Pro. Also make sure you download the latest mapper from VDJ skins too.

im using my VMS4 with VDJ 6.1.1 with no probs at all, mp3 & music video mixxing on my old white macbook 13"

make sure you have the newest FIRMWARE installed

make sure you click and apply the external mixer & vms4 in the VDJ prefs...

sounds like your vms4 is not mapped properly............

good luck

To the OP, make sure you only have one version of VDJ installed. If you have already purchased the Full Pro version, you can actually uninstall the LE version, and you should be able to plug in your VMS4, and run the Full Pro version and it should natively work from there. You can also brows the Skins/mappers section to see if something there works more to your liking with your VMS4...

Now if I could only get my VMS4 itself to work properly... but that's for a different thread... smh.

Hey Peeps!

Alright, so this may sound stupid, but becasue this is the first piece of DJ equipment I have layed my hands on it took me forever to figure out (forever meaning 1.5hrs)

Anyway, it sounds like I had a similar problem, the crossfader was controlling only deck 2 which in vdj is deck a. Both decks would be loaded and I could control one and the other would not even respond. I would have problems with the volumes etc. Headphones and blah blah

Once again I appologize if this is already something you know but this is what I did and it worked... and I was about 20 seconds away from packing it up and shipping it back.

You must set your settings correctly inside VDJ first. I started with 2 decks to comprehend the routing. So in the config screen make sure deck one has output of 3&4 and deck two has output set of 5&6. Then select VMS4, not the built in output. Now make sure you hit "apply" before "okay", and then "apply", "okay", again.

Quit VDJ.

Once out of VDJ make sure your VMS4 is off. and in the from panel make sure the knobs that say CF1 and CF2 are turned to the right channel. CFa assign has to point at ch2 and CFB assign point at ch3. Make sure you're using 4out not 8out if you're using 2 decks as well.

Aso switch Ch2 and Ch3 to USB and the others to analog. (not sure if you have to but I did)... also obviously don't switch the other dealie to reverse, use normal, and the curve all the way left to hear the most contrast between tracks.

The whole left side is for Mic, so don't worry about that at this point.

Then turn your VMS4 on and run VDJ.

The headphone issure will be resolved with the cue mix knob on the front left and gain. Just tweak it to your liking.

Once again, this I'm sure will sound terribly stupid to the advanced people on here, but I would have paid good money for this advice yesterday.

Hope this helps the newbies like me who are just starting and have no clue WFT is going on ;)
