Hello;

Need some help!!!! I am using VDJ 5.0 rev 6. I am not using Virtual DJ in a conventional manor.... I play in a rock band and we use virtual dj to play samples and mixes that are in our songs.... it works great, BUT, I am trying to trigger the samples via midi foot controller.... Need to free up my hands to play guitar...

I am using a ROLLS MP128P Midibuddy, which is a standard midi controller... I have a HOSA Tracklink Midi to USB interface.
The interface seems to have installed properly...

In VDJ config, remote control tab, I click on general Midi, Activate, and it turns green, click on config, Add, select samples from the list on the left, then sample_Play from the list on the right.... it says "Autolearn" at the top of this window... I put in the #1 for the first sample, I then press button #1 on the MPX128P and nothing happens.....

can someone give some insight on what I need to do here... PLEASE. Does this just not work, or is there a foot controler out there that we know works?

Thank you in advance for the help!!!!!!

you can use action learn to get the midi button then type in the sample followed by the number, then the action eg. play_stop

sampler 1 play_stop

v5.0.6 is a very old and out of date version of the software. There have been many changes and improvements to the software since then (See http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/VirtualDJ_History.html ) - We are now on v7.0.4

Please register your serial number on the page http://www.virtualdj.com/users/edit.html and then upgrade to the latest version: http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html

Or purchase the latest version from the following page: http://www.virtualdj.com/products/comparison.html

NOTE: The above instructions will only work in the latest versions of the software.

CONFIG -> Mappers -> Simple MIDI Wrapper can be used for basic MIDI mapping in VirtualDJ v7 - See http://www.virtualdj.com/homepage/jpboggis/blogs/4149/VDJscript_Mapping.html

However, some MIDI devices may need a proper definition and mapper file written to work correctly and optimally (E.g: Working button LED's.)

Hello, thank you for the reply and info.... I will update the software and try that, however, is it pretty much a given that this controller will work, or is it a hit or miss thing? Also, does the MPX129P controller need to be on a specific midi channel? I currently have it set to channel 16 (OMNI) or does that matter.... also, you mentioned that a definition or mapping file may have to be written? is that something I would do, or can you find them on the web? And, if written, where is that file placed or inserted into VDJ? Sorry for the lack of VDJ knowledge... im a guitar player by trade... all of this is greek to me. Thank you for the help!!!!
