Hi there, I've recently acquired a basic vinyl mixing setup (2 vinyl decks, mixer, amp, and speakers) and was hopefully going to mix in on the side my virtual music library via my laptop + VDJ.
For starters, am I going to need another soundcard (like an external usb one), or can I just use my basic laptop soundcard along with the external mixer??
Plus, in what order do I hook them up??
I was thinking: both vinyl decks - external mixer - laptop - amp - speakers.
However, I've read elsewhere (for a CDJ setup with laptop) that it can be done: one deck to laptop, laptop to channel 1 on external mixer and the other deck to channel 2, then mixer - amp - speakers.
the problem with the second option is that only one of the decks can be mixed directly with my virtual music library, plus the GND from the vinyl deck (although can this just bypass my laptop and still work fine?).
OR is this all just a waster of time, because if VDJ can't detect the beats and cue music to an analog format like vinyl then I may as well just hook my laptop output to line (3) of my external mixer and cue it manually.
thanks for any advice :)
