I have had a Hercules RMX mixer console for several years run off my laptop using Virtual DJ. I have recently purchased a Pioneer DDJ Ergo controller and plugged it into my same laptop but nothing you do on the laptop does anything on the controller, and vice versa. The cue/play lights don't even light up when a track is loaded.
I tried it on another laptop and installed VDJ and the Pioneer driver on its own. It worked absolutely fine first time. I concluded that the problem must be due to the Hercules driver so uninstalled it from my original laptop and now the Pioneer controller works perfectly.
Is there anything I can do to keep both drivers installed, but just plug one in at a time depending on which controller I need for each event?
TIA

The Hercules driver should have no effect on Pioneer and vice-versa.
You could have a MIDI conflict on your system - Please see:
http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/midinotdetected.html
Also, make sure that you have the latest version of VirtualDJ LE for Pioneer DJ-ERGO installed. Register your LE serial number on the page http://www.virtualdj.com/users/edit.html and download the latest version of LE from http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html
And the latest drivers from Pioneer - A link to their download page can be found on the following page: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Common%20Device%20Drivers.html
NOTE: Hercules VirtualDJ Console Edition will not work Pioneer DJ-ERGO and vice-versa. LE will only work for the controller it was included with.

Thanks! So it seems that the version of Virtual DJ is where my problem lies. Is there a version of VDJ that will work with both consoles?

See http://www.virtualdj.com/products/comparison.html
Pro should work with every controller, but is - of course - a bit more pricy.

LE will only work with the controller that it came with and you can only have one version of LE installed at a time.
To be able to use either controller without having to re-install the software (Or even both at the same time!), you will need to upgrade to the full VirtualDJ Pro. Your DJ ERGO entitles you to a considerable discount of 50% off the cost of upgrading. To receive this, please go to: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html
