Topic: Will cues show up on another computer?

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Hello, my name is Conor, I've been using Virtual DJ for a while now and am going to DJ a breakdancing competition (my first event) in mid March. Right now I practice on a PC desktop, but I will have to eventually put the songs I'm using on a flash drive to transfer in to my friend's Mac. My question is will the cues I make on the desktop show up on the mac?
Also will I need to copy all the music I'm using to the laptop to keep the cues?
Like if I were to practice on the laptop while keeping the songs on the flash drive and made a few cues, took the flash drive out, and plugged it back in, would the cues still be there? Or would I need to copy everything to the laptop in order to keep the cues?
I'm sorry if I phrased any of that awkwardly, but any help is greatly appreciated

Cue points are stored in the Virtual DJ database file. You cannot write this information to the MP3 tag.

Windows and Mac use different file paths, however if you move the songs on to the USB stick from within VDJ by selecting them and using CTRL when you move it will keep the DB information for that file intact. You can then load them on the mac side.

VirtualDJ keeps a local database on removable media such as USB hard disks, flash drives, etc.

So providing that you put your songs on the flash drive first and always load and play them from this when practising at home, the relevant information will be stored in the local database on the flash drive and will be available on other systems running VirtualDJ when you plug it in.

However, Mac cannot write to a PC NTFS formatted drive, so if you wish to use it on both PC and Mac and also want any changes you make on the Mac (E.g: Cue point adjustment, last play time, etc.) to be remembered, then you will need to reformat the flash drive to FAT32 format, which both PC and Mac can read/write.

That's what I figured, I really appreciate the help! Thank you
