Hi, I just bought the vms4.1 and I'm looking at speakers to buy to blast the sound out of. I'm using my headphones right now to get the music out of the machine. I have a Sansui G-7700 ampllifier that I was giving a while back but its quite old. It says 100W and 150W Unswitched on the back. I'm looking at GSM12-60 Pro speakers. They are 400 watts. It's a passive speaker. I don't know the difference between active or passive speakers. I was wondering if those speakers would work on that amplifier and blast music out of the vms4.1? thanks

What you have there is a hi-fi amplifier, so to get the best out of it (and for sound quality) you should look at buying hi-fi speakers, rather than basic PA speakers.
From what I can find online, the Sansui is 120 watts per channel, so the hi-fi speakers should ideally be rated a little bit higher than that - say 150-200 watts each. You should be able to get something quite reasonable for $200 per pair.
Assuming this is for personal use at home, not on the road - different kettle of fish.

The difference between active and passive speakers is active speakers are mains powered and have their own built-in amplifier, so don't need any external amplification.
Passive speakers need a separate amplifier to drive them.
