Sampler 2 is not an improvement rather a deterioration !!

can you explain why you think so?

Because even after many attempts I still haven't figured out how to use the samplers.
I had no problems with the old version!
Maybe it would be good if you made a video on how to use the samplers!!

I also think having to go back to the computer instead of having that accessible/doable directly from a controller is a step down/added work, especially if the controller can display the pad information on it directly.
Why was that considered as the default way to access? Could this be handled with a shift modifier while navigating pages?

and how would you do that exactly, with just a + and - buttons on the controller?
If you want all your banks to be scrolled through with + and -, then just don't put them in subfolders.

Also I'm seeing some of my banks being renamed as "legacy bank". What needs to be done to rectify this?

I can foresee lots of confused users in the next few days/weeks.

Everything that you could do with the sampler before, you can still do it the same.
the new version add new stuff, like being able to record on an empty slot, and/or select the stems, but didn't change anything from the way sampler used to work before.

What exactly you didn't figure out how to use?

@Stephane
A detailed video on how to use the samplers would be extremely helpful!
It would greatly shorten the guessing and the many questions !

there will be a video when we make the release, for now it's still in early access.
but still, we'd be very interested to know what you find confusing.
VirtualDJ is supposed to be easy to use, without having to look for instruction videos, so please can you share what you found difficult, while we can still make change to make it more intuitive?

Unfortunately, I am not a native speaker and find it difficult to express it correctly in English!

So this feature wasn't meant for controller use? Is there a way to select the subfolder you want as default in the controller scroll through case?

I am ok with using the sampler the legacy way with a controller, but I'm also just trying to understand if there is a way to use the feature with them, as that does allow for mantaining focus on the controller and the main collection as much as possible

Could you perhaps explain how you intend to organize your sample banks then?

If you have that many sample banks that it makes sense to organize them in folders, then it doesn't seem very practical to just blindly scroll them all one by one anymore?
So the idea is that you choose a sample bank in the folder that you will need from the computer, and then have a more manageable list for the current situation to quickly scroll through from your controller.

So this makes sense to me. As a radio station DJ, I could have drops for different occasions but for the same radio program (e.g. Christmas or Halloween but for the same station). In the old way of doing things, that would = a new sample bank, and I'd have to reorder sample banks to get them in sequence, but if I wanted to use a more general set of drops in a different bank, that could mean quite a bit of "nexts" to get to that general bank and then "prev" to get back. With what you guys have proposed (if I'm not mistaken), I can eliminate that long journey by grouping common banks as different subfolders under the "radio" bank, but then there isn't really a way to navigate within the bank (I'm thinking of the new style as namespaces with a set of banks). Am I wrong in thought here?

Quick question, when I'm syncing my VDJ folder over to another machine it wants to delete all the previous sampler files.

Is this correct and where are the replacement samples for the new version?

Thanks!

Yes, you can delete all these files.
In VirtualDJ 2025, the default banks are inside the app itself, not as separate files.

A clean install of VirtualDJ 2025 has the Sampler/ folder empty now.
