Topic: Crossfade Transition Pattern, Automixing

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Hello! I'm new to VDJ and have a question regarding the crossfade pattern when automixing tracks. I'm trying to set things up so that when the end of the playing track and the beginning of the new track intersect for the segue, the new track starts at it's normal volume rather than fading up. In other words, this would be the type of transition that would commonly be used by a radio station rather than a smoothy blended club mix. I know this can easily be done manually, but is there any way to do it with automation?

I was asking for this several times. I too think this would be a great addition.

Actually the transitions between songs (when no beatmatching is required) in iTunes sounds far better than in VDJ. Sad but true.

I use VDJ 8.2 in automix to act like a radio station. I have thousands of Radio Station Id's, jingles etc. I use Fade (remove intro/outro) and 0s. In the POI Editor I adjust my Mix Fade Start cue point to the exact beginning of the song. I also adjust my Mix Fade Exit cue to where I want the song to end. Songs that fade to end can be tricky. All in all I seem to get good resilts and do not notice a fade in. As I said the fade out songs are supposed to fade out anyway so I can choose when the fade out ends and the new song begins with my POI.

Well, the way you use it means that there is no transition at all but an abrupt switch to the next song.

Only when a song come to an abrupt end. Usually in this case a station id jingle is played to keep up some energy if the music is upbeat Songs that fade are allowed to fade and the new song or jingle will take over,

@Wildcountryclub: In which way is your link helpful for his question or my request? We know about the Automix Editor

@fallguy: with transition time set to 0 there is no overlap at all, so all changes are abrupt. I get what you mean, but what we are looking for is an intersection in which the running song fades out and the next kicks in with full volume.

I see what you mean. In your case I do not know a way to do this. In my case I need two different ways at the same time. I think we are both in the same boat with a small hole in the hull...

Hi Guys first time posting here.

Yes this is an issue that needs attention. I love everything about this feature except for the way it will not allow me to start a fade on "song 1" and before that fade is finished, start "song 2" at full volume while "song 1" is still fading out. In the Automix editor I "should" be able to drag the blue fade/mix window from the start of "song 2" back into the ending or fade of "song 1". This would give me the ability to achieve the mix I am looking for. However that is not the case. No matter what Automix type is being used, I am not able to do it.

Fixing this would literally make this a perfect feature in Virtual DJ.

I had one more thought and then I'll stay out of here.

What if under the Automix type we could have "fade (outro only)". Could that be the answer? It only fades the out going song and simply starts the next song at a point you select in the automix editor? Just some food for thought.............

Maybe it is just me but I use Fade intro/outro 0sec and I do notice a fade in the intro. The outro will fade out but the intro comes in real strong. I also have adjusted my own cue points so that may be the reason. My intro's are all set up to cue right at the first sound or when I deem appropriate for that particular file...

With 0 seconds there's no fade on the outro and no fade on the intro.
If you hear fading on the outro it's just because the song you are fading from happens to have a fade out in the song and you chose your fade out point after the fade is finished.

Ok that explains it. So if users set 0 seconds then it will solve the problem they are experiencing?
