Topic: Crash report. Please help!!!

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I had my VDJ crash twice this past weekend at a gig. I wanted to find out the cause of this crash and the online support guys are not able to provide me this info. Per support "...it is not usefull information for me. This must be analyzed by the developers". Can one of the dev guys please advise why VDJ crashed for me this past weekend?!?!

I believe it had something to do with the external hard drive. Both times it happened I grabbed songs from the hard drive, I didnt have this issue when grabbing tracks from the internal storage. After the crash, the hard drive is no longer recognized too. I have to run first aid on the disk for it to mount properly again. My macbook does not turn off so VDJ must be ejecting it. Build 3573, Mac iOS 10.11.6

I also have the crash guard setting to 'yes', isn't VDJ supposed to restart itself with no interruption in the music?

My guess would be the other way around: That you laptop loose the external HD access for some reason, at that brings VDJ to crash. But it's only a guess

That depends on the type of crash. If it's a only GUI stuff the music can/will continue playing. If it's worse than that there is nothing left to play the music

thanks. I just plugged in the hard drive to try and replicate. Everything was fine on the macbook, when opening VDJ it advised the database was corrupt ( or something along those lines) and asked if I wanted to fix it. Possibly something with the hard drive's database could have caused the crash?!?!

Would really appreciate if someone could let me know what the crash report said. thanks!

I normally get that message about the drive being corrupt, normally if i have recently deleted a load of files. I always click yes and then no problems but I have no idea why i get the message.

The crash was indeed while trying to access the hard drive.
If it actually disappeared after that, I would suspect a hardware failure. Either the hard drive breaking down, or perhaps the power supply of the hard drive

Thank you for that. If VDJ is trying to access a drive that isnt there, why does the program it fully shut down? In the past it used to show an error on the deck where you attempting to load the track.

How old is the external hard drive?

If I were you, I'd make a backup of everything on the drive (if you don't already do so on a regular basis) and run some diagnostics on it.

Probably best to just buy a new one!

Hard drive is 2 years old (amazon confirmed I got it March 2015). I have a back up of the music, im more concerned on the cause, and more importantly how to avoid crashes during a gig.
