So you're a video DJ and display photos / videos supplied by your client..but how do you get them?
Even just using photos is a mess when sent as email attachments. Most email systems only seem to allow around 10 photos with a file size limit of 25mb. Free alternative systems are numerous such as Drop Box, One Drive, Mega...and so on.
I've just started looking at this problem, and my thoughts are a mess. Can anyone suggest a way of perhaps putting a link or something on my website which permits access to "my cloud" for my clients. This could be the right way?
I like Mega because it's free, provides 50Gb's of storage, transmission speeds seem good, and it provides shared folders!
I just don't know what to do at the moment.

I'm confused.
You want your clients to send files to you ?
Or you to send files to them ?
If you want your clients to send files to you then it's trickier since you can't expect every client to be tech savvy enough to use cloud services or upload files to a particular platform.

Yes!
..you can't expect every client to be tech savvy enough to use cloud services or upload files to a particular platform.
This is the problem.
I've got to make it easy for them.
I'm doing a slide show tomorrow, and also the client wants a small personal video displaying. They wanted me to use What's App for file transmission..but I don't think that's a good way.
Yes it's becoming more tricky by the day.
Six months ago, on the party day, I was given an Apple type video format which I could not play.

Just install VLC on your system.
If VLC can't play it, nothing else can! (Besides the app it was created with :P)
I keep VLC installed on my system just for those rare cases. And it can also convert the files relative quickly so that you can use them in VirtualDj afterwards... ;)
As for sending files over to you, yes it's a mess and it ain't gonna improve soon.
Perhaps you could setup a simple private Linux webserver with a simple form to submit files to you, but still I don't think users will use that even if it's as simple as 1,2,3

Go simple, a 64GB usb memory stick, a 64GB sd card, or if you're dealing with hard copy photos, get a simple scanner, now depending on the client some may have some sort of cloud service, or may have a tech savvy kid, nephew, neighbour, or the IT guy either in their work place or maybe the guy they know from the pub.
But if they are completely clueless, that's an earning opportunity for you, maybe a few weeks before the gig visit their house loan them the memory device or the scanner, show them how it works, show them dropbox or whatever.
Maybe there's another way make a facebook group. You start it, they invite all the party guests, they all upload, and you (and others) upload on the night of the goings on, essentially a web based wedding video,
How good would this be? as A; further promotion for your service & B the client and guests have a record they can look back on for years to come.
I think there's a money spinner with this one Ron

It's a huge non-tax paying corporation. Surely your principles mean you'll avoid Facebook like the plague?

LOL
It's not that which bothers me ..the Mrs. lives in Facebook, that's when she's not doing online jigsaws. What a waste of time. If I had my way I'd ban the lot!

You must use H.264 compression, and the video must be inside a .mp4 file format wrapper. You can upload videos with unlimited bitrates, up to 1 Gigabyte in size.
The max file size and time length, though, are 1.75 GB and 45 minutes. But if you go beyond a 1 gig file size, then you must limit a 1080 HD upload file to a max bitrate of 8 Mbps, and a 720 HD file must be limited to a max bitrate of 4 Mbps.
It's a little technical..but a Facebook group with an almost captive audience could work well.

I don't like surprises, and avoid them at all cost. The client sends me a flash drive, or I will pick it up. No additions 5 days before the affair. No additions the day of the affair (uncle Joey wants to upload a pic from his phone). They can create the montage themselves, but it has to be Windows based. I will even accept Power Point. I can also accept regular photos, and create the montage, at an extra cost. I also use wetranfer for my photo booth side of the business. Your client can also use it, to send you pictures. There are alternatives here
