I have a brand new VMS5 with Virtual DJ 8. I have all the correct ASIO settings and am running the 1, 2, 3, 4, deck configurations. The confusing part: Deck 1 is controlled by midilog 2, Deck 2 is controlled by midilog 3, Deck 3 is controlled by midilog 1 and deck 4 by midilog 4. To me- Deck 1 should be midilog1, Deck 2 should be midilog 2, Deck 3 should be midilog 3 and deck 4 should be midilog 4. The other issue is that in order to use the crossfader on decks 3 and 4 you have to turn the knobs for CFA to CFB everytime when switching from decks 1 and 2 to decks 3 and 4. Does this make sense? The other issue is that in order to make the midilogs act appropriately sometimes it skews the colors associated with the deck and the faders. Example: Deck 1 will be blue yet the volume fader will be in red, Deck 2 will be in red, but controlled by the green fader Deck 3 will be in green, but the fader is in blue. The only one that is always appropriately aligned and assigned to the correct color is deck 4. It's always gold and its fader is always gold. Just seems annoying. Anyone else with these issues?
I have spent several hours with ADJ and my local retailer and they just say live with it. I say, cmon you're telling me that a 4 deck controller that is supposed to be a plug and play with virtual dj that I have to fiddle with knobs everytime I want to run in 4 deck mode and use the crossfader??? When I use the virtual dj default skin 4 deck mode on my laptop with no controller the crossfaders and volume faders are all aligned and working as they should. Deck 1 is fader1, Deck 2 is fader 2, Deck 3 is fader 3 and deck 4 is fader 4 AND the crossfader works to seperate the decks from left to right with decks 1 and 3 lit up on the left and decks 2 and 4 lit up on the right. What are your thoughts on this controller?
Thanks for any input

I know in VDJ7 there was a dropbox allowing to to select the deck configuration in the sound card or midi settings. I dont have in front of me but will bet the option is still there in VDJ8. The deck lineup you speak about above is the correct standard across most DJ controllers, the way you want it is the odd way. In a traditional setup a dj has 2 decks 1+2, so when adding additional decks you would add deck 3 to the left of deck 1 and deck 4 to the right of deck 2 (3-1-2-4)

I say... live with it.
The controller comes in a 3-1-2-4 layout.
Of course, you can change the layout, but then you have to route every deck to a channel in the sound setup and/ or the ASIO driver panel.

ok. Thanks. That makes sense. I can live with the 3,1,2,4 configuration . The constant turning of CFA and CFB is annoying, to say the least, to use the crossfader on decks 3 and 4.
