I use it with a Traktor F1. It's a good piece of kit and as an added bonus plays Cd's and also mp3's on usb sticks.
Two decks is fine for me given that we have an excellent sampler which can often perform as a kind of extra deck.
I prefer it to the DDJ-SX series..but that's only my personal preference.

Think the XDJ R1 is compatible with VDJ 8,here is the Manual for the Controller.
