i think you need to be more specific about what u would like changed. also have a look through the manual maybe there is something about vdj you just don't understand?

Serato came free with my controller. It's good but i still felt the need to buy a VDJ licence. It won't do the extras I want my controller to do. I need the functionality to map up the buttons as i need them.

why would you want to dumb it down to seraturd's level?

This is too funny :-D
But as stated Virtual DJ is already a lot better than Serato which is a very limited product :)

According to some of my colleagues they prefer Serato because it "looks" better.
Same old same old .....

Just a matter of taste.
I don't like the gui of Se###o at all.

Default VDJ skin is way better than the other. BTW why is always like that? Some people they trying to hide the beauty of VDJ. I am proud of what I am using.

That is actually a funny thing
When you look at the Serato GUI from a design / useability / user experience kind of view it's really horrible
It's by far the worst of the 4 big DJ software
But people are so used to looking at it that most find it "natural" for DJing by now :)

The ONLY thing I wish VDJ was as good at or better than Serato is Time Code. Yes, it's gotten a million times better with the evolution of V8, but I feel like it could still be much stronger and not quite up to their level. It's understandable that Serato is better when it comes to TC because it was first built and designed to only handle TC and not controllers. As time has gone on, Serato evolved to Itch (limited controllers) and then full all out Serato DJ and Intro with tons of controllers. Where as VDJ started out doing stuff for controllers and then evolved into making their TC better.
But there's a reason why DMC champions, Redbull Thre3style champions, WMC DJ Spin-Off champions and many others strictly use Serato in their turntable sets. It's built to handle that technology much better.
Otherwise, VDJ does have way more features and capabilities. But it's an apples and oranges products. You can't compare VDJ to Serato to Rekordbox to Traktor because they all do things different. Some better, some worst than others. Use what you're more comfortable with, pay no attention to those who talk down one software over the other and just rock a dance floor with what you have. And as far as looks go, you can make VDJ look like anything out there on the market. Looks are subjective anyway and what one person hates, another will love.
