Hi guys,
Pretty new here, but after one topic GroovinDJ already has convinced me to get a MIDI-controller. For those interested, I am probably going with this one: Hercules DJControl Jogvision (comments welcomed).
Now, I understand the workings of The Music Plan, provided by iDJPool. But I live outside the USA and can't even visit their website because of that. My question is, can I use it at all? If yes; is there a list I can go trough to get an idea of what music they offer? If no:
Is there an alternative I should be aware of? I read some stuff about Spotify plug-ins but later read that that's ancient history... Are there alternatives? If it helps; the party's I'll be using it for, will primairly recquest dutch music, or old-skool guilty pleasure kind of music.
Any help would be appreciated!

Apparently the iDJPool subscription can be used worldwide, however there's conflicting information depending where you look.
The catalogue is quite restricted, and very USA centric. doubt there would be any Dutch music on there.
Deezer Pro subscription works well within VDJ, but technically it's only for home use and not for gigs.
Why not get a controller with VDJ LE included? As far as I am aware the Jog Vision includes Serato Intro.

But the controller I mentioned is compatible with VDJ? Because I am planning on buying the VDJ "advanced home users" plan with it. Even if it's limited to my controller, I am not planning on doing payed gigs anytime soon. The 'gigs' I am planning to do is purely voulenteer work you might say. It is at a local sportsclub, a view times per year (2 or 3). I am not planning on going semi-pro anytime soon. I might if I have the skills to back me up, but it's not a plan right now..

The controller is compatible, yes.

I would suggest you charge them something - even if it's just a small amount.
Charging nothing can easily lead to people expecting you to always do it for nothing, like this club you mention. If you don't charge them, they're laughing. They will make money from all the people who attend. Entrance fee, bar takings, food...
Then there's all the people in attendance. Some may be interested in having you play at their party - but "Hey, you didn't charge the club so I want it free too" and so on.

Do not do free gigs. charge the going rate and learn as you earn.

That sounds good in theory, but his skills do not command the going rate that you or I get. Yes, free has it's downside, but that may be his only option at the moment. Unfortunately, your will have to find a way to pay for you music, either to own or stream. Content Unlimited is your only option for streaming at the moment. Beatport is trying to start up a streaming service next year.

There are 2 reasons I am not charging this club. For one, I don't have a skillset to back me up. Very basic playing and sometimes using autoplay for a longer period.
The second reason is that I am involved with this club. I am doing this as a voukenteer to show my fellow clubmembers a good time, while learning in the proces. :)
For those who recommended a controller with VDJ LE version; what are the exact limitations on LE? And of course: what controller would u recommend?
Thanks for all your replys even though I am not 'one of you', meaning a pro-DJ :)

It depends on the LE version. they're not all the same unfortunately.
Version 8 LE is particularly useless as the search function has been removed.

So I would be better off when I would purchase a monthly description every now and again when using a controller at parties?

Probably, yes.

Personally I would get the pioneer sb2 or 3's and you can use "DEEZER" as a online music streaming source.

I have gotten (and followed) a lot of advice from you guys. Thank you for that! This weekend there is an 'end-of-season' party. I have therefore purchased the Pioneer SB2 controller and a months subscription VDJ :)
I have been busy trying to beatmix a couple of years ago, and am going to practice and play at this sportsclub to get better at it. I have got the skill (though not perfect ofcourse) to 'feel' the crowd and wich music to play. That's actually the reason why I rolled into this.
Any last-minute advice is welcomed and I will read it during the weekend aswell, so wish me luck and reply with some good advice ;)
