gang -
just build a lappy for a friend and she has win 10 x64 fresh install and for some silly reason, flv and some mp4 won't play via x64 pro - yet some mp4 files do play.
windows will play them so it does not appear to be a codec issue.
this does not happen using the x86 version of vdj pro.
thanks!

Not relevant, as VDJ 8 has always used its own onboard codecs. It doesn't use the OS ones (as VDJ 7 did).

I just tested here, and can play FLV on both 32 and 64 bit versions. Have you tried switching the videoUseDXVA setting?

maybe these mp4 and flv files (which are just containers) use some non supported codec.
grab this free app and it will help you find out what makes the files different https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo

Can you send us one of those files to test ?
Upload to a server and either post the link here, or PM me.
