Hi guys, I'm using hercules rmx and I want to be able to use a microphone on top of a mix and I want this whole thing record. Adding microphone to the configurations does not seem to do it. A mic button appears on the software but nothing happens when I press it. I can use the mic on hercules but I only get feedback from the speakers. It does not get recorded. Any help would be much appreciated.

If I remember right, you need to do this at the driver, in the Hercules RMX control panel
Set the line in to mic. And then activate the mic in VirtualDJ ...
But things have changed a lot, probably well worth updating to modern version of VirtualDJ, the version 7 is almost a decade outdated.
Much easier and more intuitive to use the mic etc in modern version :) Its even free .. if you have Pro version

Many thanks for your help. I have no aidea how to access the hercules control panel though :). The only thing related to Hercules that I can see is in the Program Files. I can also se the drivers in the Device manager but that's just about it.

RMX and some other Hercules basically work without drivers with VDJ but Yes mic have to activate both in Hercules driver

(you may have to use old drivers (2016) with some old controllers)
and config VDJ Audio and Windows have to allow VDJ to use mic
Additionnally there was a bug(typo) in the old default skin preventing mic to work properly
action="get_haslinein ? linein : get_hasmic ? linein 'mic' : linein" was wrong in all places
I don't remember the line numbers and what exactly but it was something like "het_haslinein" or "het_hasmic"
Note with RMX you'll get a delay with mic used this way : RMX firmware ADC + Wasapi buffer/Asio buffer + VDJ in + VDJ plugins + VDJ Out + Wasapi/ASIO near 1sec
