It look like new sources for video item
<video source="camera" ...
<video source="slideshow" ...
are only working in videoskin but not in main skin
strange limitation, can't implement a preview (this way) :\

Make sure video skin is in for the master preview.

no problem with video skin it display ok in both main preview and main output
simply the same <video source="camera" .../> element does not do the same thing whenever it is used in a skin or in a video skin
when used in a video skin it displays camera as needed
when used in a normal skin it displays default video or chanel/deck if specified
same script line different results

I understand the technical issue but don't get the need [yet]
now if we could do something like this I'd see the need for preview of source
deck master.camera effect_active 'WHATEVERVFX'
that would be an interesting rabbit hole
Have you a practical application or are you just pulling what seems weird during testing?

in fact i tried to add camera to my skin with extra floating video windows and was unable to get camera work in floating windows
i tested the new skin "Broadcaster UI - 01" from "Rune (dj-in-norway)" - nice one - and camera is working with it
so i tested it again but this time in my skin plugin and bam it does not work as external (and this time the chan or deck is used)
tested adding camera to my video skin "JustVideos" and same result

I get your need now.
it only pulls cam/slideshow from the master deck, but it's still early days for the function.
