So i am back with an old issue. I have new high spec laptop, using Denon MC7000 controller. Tonight i had a latency issue, sound stuttered, paused and waveforms di the same. What exactly causes this , where do i look as this has happened now on a main pc, 2 laptops and I have tried a second controller. Would using a usb soundcard rather than inbuilt sound on Denon help? would not using stems help? Using a Lenovo Legion 5 AMD Ryzen 7-5800H 16GB 512GB SSD GeForce RTX 3070 8GB Windows 10
Should i use UltraLatency set to yes? (currently no)

this tool will help you figure out what devices on your computer cause latency -> free download

It's recommended to have ultralatency yes (the default)
Turning it off should not be necessary with most controllers and drivers

OK, thanks, will set to yes and run it today with monitor on. Could stems be an issue though as never had latency issues on old controller when i never used stems.

is it a good idea to have "exclusiveAudioAccess" ticked in VDJ?

exclusiveAudioAccess is only used for WASAPI. If you are using ASIO it doesn't change anything.
For WASAPI it can give you a lot lower latency, but it will depend on your system and the used sound card if that will actually work without dropouts.
Stems do use additional processing power, but with a modern computer, and especially with an nVidia GPU that should not really be noticeable.

ok thanks, yes using asio set to 512, got it on 5 hour automix with latency monitor running

thinking of getting something like a focusrite bypass the internal Denon sound card.

So after about an hour i see red, highest measured interrupt latency 2348.50, so what do i look for now?

Did you get a drop-out?
2.3ms should still be fine since 512 sample latency would be about 10ms

no, it was fine, so just because it says "Your system appears to be having trouble handling real-time audio and other tasks." does not mean i have a problem?

Only if the sound starts breaking up.

sure it is an issue with these Denon 7000s, never ever had any issues until i used these. Might be time to change again.

I use a couple of MCX8000 controllers with the same card and I've never had issues. Some laptops are just bad for latency.

Not just one, had on 3 laptops, and my main home pc, and on two mc7000

My mate has the MC7000 and uses it on a Sony Vaio dual core from the stone ages and its fine.

well clearly some issue, i never imagined 80 people looking at me last night while the music jumped, paused etc. Some common issue to all 4 computers or 2 faulty mc7000. Just wish I could work out what it is. used different usb ports, different cables etc.

There were issues with older Denon ASIO drivers (MC6000) where it was better to use WASAPI, but I've never had any bother with either of my MCX8000s and I've used them for years.
Might be worth running automix with Windows task manager running in the foreground to see if there's anything causing a CPU spike when the music skips. That's the first place I'd look.
