New laptop... reinstalled VDJ and it's too big for screen... can't minimise it or change the size to fit the screen...any ideas please?

Try renaming the settings.xml file, forcing VDJ to create a new one on startup, and see if it comes up with a more fitting resolution for your screen size the next time
