write a script? if I must lose 1% on both left and right then that's fine. (forgive my writing I have a reading disability) I want it to fully fade at 99%

Try some simpler ones, and work from there
0=[1,0]/0.09=[1,0]/0.1=[1,1]/0.9=[1,1]/0.91=[0,1]/1=[0,1]
Also make sure that your controller doesn't send an updated curve because of a crossfader curve knob
0=[1,0]/0.09=[1,0]/0.1=[1,1]/0.9=[1,1]/0.91=[0,1]/1=[0,1]

. and also make sure that it is in face a crossfader issue
you can tests that the incoming messages go all the way between 1 and 0 i the mapping window, like show in the last example here:
