When i analyze my songs (not plays songs or video), the CPU jumps to 100% and stays there till analysing.
Is this normal??
When I play videos it only sits at 5-10%...With visuals only 50% max.
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
1 GB ram
ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M 256 RAM

Yes it is normal, dont worry.

Ya know. I wish there was a way to turn off the analizing.

I agree.

It has lower priority than other functions, so don't worry.
You can try to turn maxload to never. In older version it keeped usage at 100% but now it should be

the process will use all spare computing power, as lopez said it has what computing people call a 'lower thread priority' so the part (or thread) of virtual dj that deals with analysing songs you load to give you the waveform and progress bar data will only make use of spare power not take priority of everything and make things skip. using an internal priority process would make vdj much more bloated a program and for little more benefit.

This is true, and about the 100% load bugfix, but i dont recommend to set maxload to none, as there are still some problems left (skipping) when play (big) tracks from disk directly.

so i guess you guys only analyze when you arent play music then?
geposted Mon 15 Aug 05 @ 7:06 pm
yes, as it not all functions (i.e. search) are available while you analyse.
But time to time I analyse few files that I see unanalysed (perhaps i changed the filename)
but only 3-10 to be sure analysis finishes before the actual playing song ends

I think is an issue with AMD or less powerful chip processor. I have an Intel 540 (3.2GHz, 1MB Cache, FSB 800) and when I analyze a video it only raise the CPU usage to 54%.
I preferred to analyze my music when I'm not playing any videos or music. If I do some analyzes when I'm playing some with VirtualDJ there's no trouble at all. But I feel more secure if I do analyze when I'm not playing anything

i think that§s because hyperthreading ...

It must be, but I could do other things because of it. :-)
The 54% it's the top, the CPU usage is between 10% and 54% as maximum.
