Is it possible to play cd's from my pioneer when hooked up to virtual dj. lets say im at a party and someone gives me a cd to play and the song is not on my harddrive, can i play the song and then later go back to using virtual dj.

You can use Y-splitters to connect cd-players to VDJ (through sond card of course, let say maya 44 for example) and to connect to your mixer to another channel. So when you want to play CD, just open the channel on mixer, another possibility is to use bypass function in VDJ.

A third possibility would be to put the cd in your CD or DVD drive in your computer and just drag&drop the track you want to mix on one of VDJ's software turntables.
And then just mix it as if it was an MP3

It's truth what Jeremie said, but it could be a problem. I remember when someone at party bring me a cd and it was dammaged. My VDJ just stopped!

mostly it is windows-hardware related. Waiting for the I-O operation (reading up the cd) may cause ALL applications to stuck...

Exactly this! Better that you put CDs into cd-player.
