Hi all
I saw this laptop PACKARD BELL EASY NOTE L4 for 450 euro in my country, it is a real bargain price and my question: is Packard Bell laptops good? Do some of you have/had some model and how does it work?
The specs are:
Intel Centrino 1.6 (2 MB L2)
512 MB DDR
80 GB
DVD+-RW Dual Layer
15.4" TFT WXGA Diamond View
Intel GMA 915
AC '97, SoundMAX
Stereo
56 K
Realtek
Intel 2200 B/G
SD/MMC
3 x USB 2.0, SPDIF, Firewire, IC, S-Video, Mic In, Headphone/Line out
I currently have Gericom Hummer Celeron processor 2.8Ghz and 512Mb ram and it is working very nice with Sound Blaster Live USB.
What should I do?
Thanks
Alf

Anyone?
Anyway, I decided to take it and sell my old desktop machine which is AMD Barton 2,6Ghz and 512Mb ram. I will sell it and add a little money to have Packard Bell. Bad thing is that it is without a battery, but I don't really need it in the club or home. If I need a battery, I have it in the Gericom laptop :) . And this way I will have a nice backup for my setup!

Packard Bell is a middle of the road brand, I've been using my Packard Bell laptop for 3 years now and it's still going strong.

Problems I've had:
I dropped it out of a case from about a meter hight straight onto concrete, luckily I only had to replace the CPU (£250 as it's a P4 2.6 desktop CPU). Obviously this was entirely my fault and the laptop proved robust.

I had overheating problems after 12 months, this is because of the Desktop CPU and a build up of micro dust inside the laptop (on some of its most vital components), this lead to cut outs when stressing the CPU, the problem was solved very easily by using a specialist cleaning product.

Before you buy this laptop, you should search the net with the exact product name/model followed by "Reviews" and see what independant reviewers think to this particular model.

Wow, I didn't know Packard Bell is still in business. They use to make desktop PCs that I really hated because of their design. The laptop specs look fine if you're not planning on doing video mixing, and you'll need to upgrade ram for better performance. Keep in mind that built in soundcard only has one output and no line-in.

@phillydj
Sorry mate, didn' saw your question. Both have similar Intel Extreme chip, but I'm audio DJ only, no video, for now.
@abnorm
Just audio here and I know about audio, I have Sound Blaster Live USB which works fine (hope to get MK2 soon). Design is not that bad: http://img90.imageshack.us/my.php?image=easynotel4jm5.jpg
