The best software for editing music for me is adobe audition, lots of plugins,effects,etc.

Even if it's not what you need, every system should have this installed for converting audio files. Very easy to use and handy. Just a right mouse click away.

MediaCoder converts my .vob to a video. I just want the audio, how can I do this?

Convert the vob to .mpeg for example, then use
www.dbpoweramp.com
to rip the audio.
