Topic: 4.1 crashing on loading song lengths greater than 10min

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I installed the full 4.1 and works fine untill i start loading song file with greater than 10min lengths. Sometimes it takes a while to crash after loading longer songs, but i can make it crash always by advancing into the song at different positions with the mouse pointer.

The crash ends up looping the sound & the only way out is to ctl alt del & endtask. My dac3 also has to be reset.

i'm using jpboggis's ver1.4 plugin. No MT,No Max load 10.min,No Auto gain, No overclock, soundcard latency auto. Safe mode on. (and various other settings.)

No internet
Most services disabled
No antivirus or other programs.

same system same songs works flawlessly with 3.4. and i am stumped.

system specs:

Gigabyte s-series mainboard with latest bios flash. Onboard Nvidia 6100 graphics (latest driver)
Nvida chipset (latest driver)
athlon64 x2 dual core 4200
2gb dual channel ocz ddr2 pc2 5400 667mhz value pro ram
4x 300gb wd hdd
PCI ESI maya44 soundcard
Dac3 controller
windowsxp sp2

I am very happy with the performace and stability of 4.3 (not a single crash), but i would like to take advantage of the many great features of 4.1 :)

any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

Maybe the setting of your ram memory in bios, check the latency and frequency. Also, try to flash your bios with the new one if one is available.

already flashed bios with latest bios as i mentioned earlier, and the timing of ram has been manually adjusted in the bios according to the manufacturers specifications. 5-5-5-10

any other suggestions?

I've found a work around.

If i set the max load settings to 5min, everything works flawlessly with loading of large song lengths(20min+)

if i set max load to 15min, boom crash, sound loop :(

Hm, mine is set to 15min and I have only 512Mb ram now (will add another 512) and you have 2Gb so something is wrong, ram or chipset drivers, you should reinstall windows maybe.

I maust admit playing songs on the fly for me too (Ie no buffer) also freezes VDJ after a little while. VDJ 3.4 used to have a 2 second buffer for these track, but now a track longer than the max load setting seems to play with the track "Appearing" on the left or "Already played" side of the centre line in the waveform view! Instead of appearing two beats ahead of the centre line (Right side).

Well, you must understand that VDJ is made to use preload, some of the effects can't even work if it is not on. If you have need for bigger files (over 20 min) than you need to upgrade your ram memory. I play house most of the time, and the longest tracks are 12 min, so 15 min preload setting is nice for me, if I wanna play my mix (80 min) than I use Winamp.

The ram has been fully tested, and windows xp was freshly installed with only vdj running.

thnx anyway.

it appears that the internal team has recognized this prob & is currently working on it.

I am having the same problem with both my pc and my lap top. I did notice that the lap top will only take songs that are about 8 min without crashing and it uses 512mb of ram and the pc will take 20 min songs before crashing. So that means i neeed to put in about 2 gig of ram to be sure it won't crash. I would welcome on thoughts on this that anybody may have.

I´ve the same problem with 4.1.

With 3.4 everything worked well, also the great files with over 60 minutes.
Now it´s not amusing if the system freezes. I´ve tried several settings, but it´s always the same on different systems. (P3000/512) The maximum filesize that works is about 8-12 Minutes. If the file is bigger you have trouble.
It´s really not amusing when the system freezes during a gig. Please fix it!!!

Hi,
I have a brand new Toshiba, dual core, 2 mg ram, 7200rpm hd and am having the same problem right from the beginning with 4.1. I tired changing all the settings in all different configs, uninstalled, reinstalled several times, still, the same problem. I uninstalled 4.1 and reinstalled 3.4 and am not having any problems. I too would like to use the new version...anxiously awaiting the bug fix!

You must set max load longer than the song your playing.
Or else VDJ will stream load the song from HD, instead of loading the whole song into ram.

Streamload does not work all good in VDJ (yet..) (for the moment, set max load to none or 5 min) as VDJ is not a stream playing software (like Winamp), but a live sound manipulation software.

Using effects and more in stream mode can cause issues.
