How about............ Virtual DJ ?? ;) hehe
VDJ has a 12 slot sampler bank :) You can fire up any samples, and trigger with midi ;)

I realise that, 12 samples isn't enough for me so am trying to find an alternative that will work alongside VDJ.

Hiya,
just a thought, until somebody finds a program for more samples, you could just open a second instance of vdj (the multi instance skin is pretty good as well).
That would give u 24 samples at least! :)
