Hello everyone,
First of all, I have to say that Virtual DJ is awesome! I've DJed a few parties with this software and it does everything I want it to. I'm looking into buying a laptop. I really want to purchase the MK2 as well. I've been reading the forums lately and I know that VDJ needs a software update to the new drivers of the MK2. Do you know when that will be available?
I'm anxiously waiting for the software update to come out so I can purchase my new laptop. I was debating whether I should get a laptop with vista or with XP. Its really hard to find laptops with XP on them, and if you do, they are expensive. It ends up cheaper buying a laptop with vista on it.
I know that the DJ Console MK2 comes bundled with virtual dj, however it is version 3.2 or 3.4, I'm not sure which one? How will the software update work? Is it going to be provided for free for those who have purchased the MK2 with the bundled software? Will we receive an email or what?
I don't do any scratching but I do beatmixing, and I would like to implement a little bit of scratching. Right now I do this as a hobby, but would love to start a business out of this. Any suggestions or comments on doing this full time would greatly be appreciated. I'm trying to get this local bar/club to hire me as their DJ.
Thank you and will look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
DJ Sindhicate

Hey there Sindhicate, you might want to consider getting a Mac. http://www.apple.com/getamac/
Run windows xp 100% natively on it now http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/ with your MK2 (like I've been doing since last April) and then run vista later on your Mac when the update comes out, or better yet, run VDJ Mac that will be out soon and leave all of the windows security, instability, and incompatability problems behind.
Minimize your windows useage to only the times that you absolutely need windows, for example for certain windows only applications, and you'll finally realize how trouble free computing should be and experience peace of mind by not worrying wheteher or not your computers gonna freeze or crash on you in front of several, severl hundred, or several thousand people.
This is the reason that windows users have been swithing by the hundreds of thousands annually since 2005 and that number will exceed well over a million starting this year. Some of those windows to Mac switchers even include a few of the prominent "teamers" and staff here at Atomix. I can guarantee that once VDJ Mac is released you're gonna witness an avalanche of switchers once the reports start getting posted about how much better VDJ runs on a Mac. That's because they'll be running it on a better OS and therfore have a better overall digital dj solution by combining the best OS with the best software, VDJ.

Thanks everyone. I do appreciate your help. Now with specifications of laptops, what is the best way to go. I'm on a budget and I've been saving up for so long to get a laptop. The max I would spend is $800, but if preferable, I wouldn't want to go that high. Right there it tells me that a MAC is out because they are expensive. I know they are great machines, but right now I can't afford one. Thus I would have to go with a laptop with vista or xp.
I saw an Acer with 512mb, 60gb, core duo with processor number 2300T. I would upgrade the ram to 1.5gb and I can always get an external hard drive. This laptop comes with Windows XP Pro. I'm still thinking about it since I can go ahead and get the MK2 without any problems and start mixing asap!
But on the other hand, I can get more ram and hard drive space if I go with a vista laptop. I just don't know what to do.
What do you guys suggest if you were in my scenario?
Also, I'm really thinking of starting my own dj business. I work full time right now but would do this part time. Right now I dj as a hobby.
Thanks for all your help. I do appreciate it.
