I prefer to record to a seperate machine from my mixer. If you don't have that option, there is a a record option towards the middle of the screen on all of the supplied skins. That should allow you to record onto the same computer.

Dude if you simply want to slow a song down why don't you use windows sound recorder, or grab something like audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/).
It would seem to be quite overkill to be using a professional DJ software package like VDJ just to slow a song down!!
