ditto that... with great codec (lame)... the best there is, and free
Use VBR - low about 128 high about 196 = BEST result.... and those who say you can hear the difference, well I did a blind test on a bunch of people, all from musicians to general audience.... cant tell the difference between mp3 and cd, with the correct optimal encoding settings :)

now go from vinyl to CD and I'll be able to tell you the difference just by listening to the bass!
there's just something about the kick from vinyl that sounds better
but when it comes between CD and MP3 there's not much difference that one can notice unless its badly recorded.

I use Audiograbber with Lame. Main tracks at 320 and the rest at 128kbs.

With vinyl the difference is the tracking noise of the neeedle on the record as opposed to the digital sound of a Mp3

I ripped most of my collection using JetAudio to 96kbps OGG. I spun earlier this week at DNA Lounge, which has an amazing 17,000W sound sound system (that you can read about at http://www.dnalounge.com/backstage/), and no one, not even their soundguy, could preceive a difference in quality between my sets and the sets of the other DJ's who used CD's.
Because of this, I think the question of bitrates is highly overrated. But, at the same time, there are some BAD rippers out there. If you're going MP3, I wouldn't use any encoder besides LAME. My experience tells me that makes more of a difference than the actual bitrate.

I am using MusicMatch because it keeps the title and artist as part of the mp3 name instead of track01, 02...
I was not able to make that happen with Audiograbber and CdEx.

You have to use a proper naming string with Audiograbber. Mine gives me artist (cdname Track #) - Song title year.mp3
even on compilation or soundtrack CD's
