VU METERS should show the level of the mp3 not the volume level. If I want to know what the volume level is, I can look at the slider! the VU METERS should move to the music beat

I edited the skin file and found 2-3 places that needed to be changed. It worked, so much better.

However, I noticed that that the whole GUI seems much slower than before. I guess the VU meters take a lot of processor power and maybe that is why the advanced skin had it set off?

I am running an AMD Athlon XP 2400+ with 512MB Ram Windows 2000

Ouch! I have to revert back. The GUI slowed down too much and the record scratch doesn't work like before. Can anbyone else confirm this?

I really like the Vu meters on like this this but if it affects the audio, it is not worth it.

Please disregard my last post. I removed Virtual DJ, re-installed and still have GUI slowdown. Something else must be wrong with my system and is not related to VU meter tweak.

"was working last night"

to: WirelessDJ,
I was thinking to ask you if you notice any slow down
in Virtual Dj performance, after you scanned your 22,000
tracks resulting a 6.5 MB database (in the ''analyze'' topic)
I see now you have a problem, but you dont know what it is.
Just thinking, maybe this is the problem or maybe not.
Please check it and let me know.

Just move the internal database file to another folder,
and Vdj will create a new one -empty- when start again.

Yes it does slow down for me. When I first open virtual DJ it always goes to the two demo songs. I dont know how to make it remember the last folder it was in.

then I click on my C: drive on m mp3 folder. My tracks are broken up into many sub folders.

c:\mp3

ahh it me off...

c: mp3 (this is top layer)
c: jazz
c: 1980s
c: 1990s
c: trance
c: drops
c: disco
etc etc etc

I havent finished counting so the file will be much larger than 6.5mb.

It did slow down though, it takes 12 seconds to open the top layer folder with 22000 tracks total.

It is normal to have a slow response when you browse,
folders - subfolders, because Virtual dj have a direct access.
Like an internal windows explorer
(Unlike other programs)
The file mp3database.txt is used for the search function
and is much quicker, while internal database file store the
cue/bpm infos
I like this feature, because you can make changes, move files
outside the program, without having to update the recordcase
everytime (Pcdj).

But try to see if the ''slow'' browser affect the performance when you mix, using eq, effects etc.
Also try with an empty internal database file.
To set your mp3 directory as default, select it and press
the red button with the folder icon.
