I'm wondering how long it will take to rip a DVD. On my 3 year old desktop it took almost 2 days to rip a DVD. That's insane. It's only 1.8 GHz with 256 RAM.
My new machine is
Intel Pentium 4 Processor 630 (3.0GHz, 800MHz, 2MB L2)
Intel 915G Motherboard w/Integrated Marvell Gigabit
2048MB 533MHz Dual-channel DDR2 SDRAM (4-512MB modules)
16x Double-Layer Multi-Format DVD Writer DVD¦/R¦RW/CD-R/RW
I'm going to be ripping with #1 DVD Ripper with VP6.
Any ideas about how long it will take to rip DVD's with my new machine?

If you are just ripping the DVD with no re-encoding, it should take about 10 minutes to rip an average movie DVD. My 1.8GHz notebook can rip and re-encode an avergage move to Divx in pretty close to realtime. That is, it takes 2 hours to rip and encode a 2 hour movie.
