The hard part of mapping NI devices is that you dont have any specifications for the LEDs (NI never release technical documents). We could come up with a proper definition and mapper and make all parts work correctly, but for the LEDs of the VU meters, either we need to be lucky, or get some data from NI.
If you are willing to cooperate via Teamviewer (will need just a couple of hours) i could help. I am sending you my email via pm.

You could also try to contact NI and ask for a Midi Table for the Leds

The Z1 has an audio interface. Aren't the VU meter LEDs analogue, working from audio voltage?

Its not always the case. If they are,, then it will be much easier of course. The fact that a MIDI device has a built in sound card, doesnt mean that things like VU meters, Master Volume, Headphones etc are Hardware. It depends on which path the manufacture decided to follow

ok so what will it take to make this mapper I send an email to NI for Midi Table for the Leds

replied to your PM. We need to have a Teamviewer session to make that happen.

I'm waiting for this mapper ...please ..... :-) :-(

If somebody is able to sit down with teamviewer one night, i could get the data i need to make a mapper for both windows and mac.

any update on a mapper for the Z1? I can Teamview if needed

NEWS?

Yes please:)

Native support for Kontrol Z1 will be available soon.

Sweet.

Thx for the info, phantom

)

Kontrol Z1 is now officially supported on all builds ending at .833 or greater.
Thank you!

No, no, no,

Thank YOU! :P ;)

Ermm.. Just to clear things up..

Aren't we on Build 2003 (10/12/2014) now?

What is build .833+? - or , when will it be available?

Thx for some insight:)

The digits before the period are the software build. The digits after the period are the mapping updates.

It's the numbers at the end which change when the native mapping is updated.

Example: 2003.833 (2003 software build, 833 mapping updates).

just a question if any of the atomix staff see this message, are the LED's working via HID or via MIDI, if they are working using HID... please tell me how you did it... ive been trying to get NI gear to respond to HID output for years.

Leds are on HID. We use USBlyzer to see what the "other" application sends to the unit and SimpleHIDwrite to make tests if necessary

that sounds like a good idea, i was previously using usblyzer to find the locations of the LED's, but i was unable to get them to do anything via VDJ, even when sending out LED on, on all the LED locations... will play around with SimpleHIDwrite to see if i can find out what makes the unit actually respond
