Some songs have an intro with less of instruments that can be hardly heared when you mix it, and then comes the upbeat who has more power...
My suggestion is when a track is been analysed should also be normalized so it would be always the same DB ouput of sound.
Setting a GAIN doesn't help at all of course, 'cause it's setting it to the whole song and not to the parts that need to be increased in a matter of volume...

As far as I know, the tracks actually are normalized to achieve an average output volume.

Tracks like that I add a action poi at the start to crank up the gain, then I have another to drop it back down.

@PachN no they've been just getting an overall GAIN...
@Locodog wouldn't you be happy if that was an automated procedure?

Yes, you are right. But you really don't want VDJ to manipulate your original music file on the fly without you having full controll.
I suggest to use a 3rd party tool like Platinum Notes to normalize your files.

@PachN that could be an option... Didn't you have such a situation that you wished to have the song normalized?
Why should we use an external software when VDJ could do it on the fly?
I'm playing videos only and it's a common thing for me...

I suggest using a compressor plugin either on each deck or on the master output. This could be set to boost the quiet sections.

yer it's also a solution...

Honestly no, it occurs less than 0.01% of the time for me, and for some tracks a quiet section is part of the performance. So I understand your point of view but don't quite think fully automatic is right.
