When I use the laser ray, water bubbles and a few other effects, my sound gets muted, any ideas why?

those are Effects written with the old SDK, so not compatible with version 8. Authors need to update the code of their plugins

When playing a song, the sliders for the volume on the decks float up and down increasing and decreasing the volume, any ideas why?
