Topic: Switch between builds
I am thinking of the most efficient and least risky method of switching between builds of VDJ.
One way would of course be to run the installation package and uninstall the not wanted.
But would it also be OK to just replace the .EXE file in Windows/program files?

Yes. I do that and there are no issues.

Do bear in mind the contents of the settings.xml file can change for newer builds but it's OK going back the way.

Ah thanks.
So ideally I should save a settings.xml for each build aswell ?

Depends on what you're actually doing.

I would suggest using the full or auto install going up builds, but if you want to go back the way then just replacing the exe is fine.

No the settings file wil generally be fine. Entries that the older version doesn't understand will simply be ignored

That's what I was trying to say. But newer builds may require additional entries for any new features added.

Is there a way to extract the .EXE file from the installationpackage without running the install ?

Search Google, there are programs to do this.

No need to do that. Simply rename the currently installed exe before installing the new one
I did a video on it a while back
