Topic: Ableton Link Audio
Hi forum members and Atomix,

I have a question regarding 'Ableton Link Audio' that was introduced in Ableton Live 12.4 .

I think this would be a nice feature to have when playing Ableton in combination with VDJ.

Is this something that is being worked on? If yes does anybody know when we can expect to see it in VDJ?

No, not 'Ableton Link' there is a new version that also has audio and it is called 'Ableton Link Audio'

I have tried using it with Deadmau5 new performance app Auto/pilot and Ableton and it works grate but I would like to use it with VDJ.
 
 
If introduced it will be a pro licence feature.
 
That new protocol (Ableton Live Audio) just came out in May (2026), and extends the protocol to send full audio/audio tracks.

Maybe it should be turned into a Feature Request (it's a possible alternative to ReWire).
 
I'll be fine with this being a pro license feature, I have been on the fence for some time (buying VDJ) and this would surely make me buy Virtual DJ
 
Agreed. ReWire (from Propellerheads/Steinberg) was good back in the day, but was discontinued in 2019.

Ableton Link is widely supported and the new audio function would provide a convenient way to route multi channel audio around through one LAN cable.
