If you don't want to use TCCDs ot TCVs you don't really need maya or u46dj. Just find sound card that has 2 stereo outs to plug in external mixer. that's all.

Im sorry if this is a stupid question but what is TCCD & TCV? I will be running off a HP laptop and want to be able to listen to songs before I play them. The laptop will connect to Mackie mixer. Thanks

Time coded cd and time coded vinyl. It's so you can manipulate your mp3s with cd decks or turntables;^]

To prelisten you should connect headphones to mixer and not directly to lone out at sound card. So you have to connect it like this: line out 1 (sound card) to line in 1 (mixer) AND line out 2 (sound card) to line in 2 (mixer). I am almost sure that your mixer has headphones out, so connect headphones there.
Maybe you will need also 1 line in at sound card to record your mixes and VDJ of course :)

Thanks for your help, At this point im not really interested in mixing music and recording. I basically just want to be able to cue my existing music and mix songs during the show nothing fancy.

you will need sound card with 2 stereo outputs even if you don't want to use external mixer. one line out for main out, second for prelistening.

If you want to use the software and to mix using your keyboard and your laptop, the best choice is the soundblaster live usb, since you can configure in 5.1 mode , best regards, Manquin DJ.

I tryed to find a dealer this morning for the u46dj, checked as as many online stores as I could find, and the only place it seems to be in stock is on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7410870506&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
I haven't decided for myself yet if I'm gonna buy something from this dealer, he does have a 44 negative feedback and I couldn't find them as an authorised dealer listed on esi's website. I had originaly bought it at floridamusiccompany (are on the list of authorised dealers), but then they said it was on backorder and could be in a week, or a month, they didn't know. Needless to say they gave me an instant refund.

Thanks Timmy for looking, Since it doesnt look like I will be able to get Maya 44 will any of the following work and which one would you recommend?
1- Sound Blaster Live 24 bit USB S.C.
2- Echo Indio DJ
3- Sound Blaster MP3+
I kind of like the Echo Indio because it is card that I can insert in the HP's card slot without having to use another USB port. Thanks for your help and opinions.

That sound card is really good if you configure it in mode 4.1 within vdj you 2 need 2 soundcards for mixing, whey you get it if you need any help I'll be willing to help you, but first of all don't forget to get vdj pro in order to use all the features of the program, hope to see you soon as a full member, regards.
