Topic: Windows XP and VDJ - Page: 1

Dieser Teil des Themas ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten

I have loaded Virtual DJ on a new Windows XP laptop. I create my playlist and start playing it. After about 4-10 minutes the screen goes blank. VDK keeps playing but the screen never comes back. All the settings in Windows have been disabled: screensaver is off, hibernation is off, even the power management is off.

I then moved my copy to another laptop and an hour into my DJ gig the screen blanked out again.

I'm running XP sp2 on either a Dell laptop or an Acer laptop.

Any ideas why this is happening????

Are you sure all powermanagement is off ? even in Bios?

Laptops are nasty at shutting down things, when the laptop is "not in use", such as leaving a program without interaction

Bios and all power management are the same and disabled. both screens are set to 60 hertz. Screen does not go black, you can tell there is still power to the monitor, screen will go blackish of green-ish so I know there is a signal going to the monitor.

Hi ,
i have exactly the same problem , i have posted this before and still unresolved. My laptops are solely for Djing and not connected to the internet , so not a virus issue in my case , so it seems a common problem. When it happens the only solution is to power down the laptop ( mains and battery ) and restart it and after that it seems to work ok , obvously a back up player is a good idea .

I AM REALLY GETTING ANNOYED WITH THIS NOW !
There must be an explanation for this , i feel i have wasted my money , i can't use the program as it is ,it is a complete waste of time and money , to be honest it is quite embarrasing using it and the screen going blank . Only the other evening the boss of the club where i work was standing there and as usual the thing went off and his reaction was , what the f..k is going on!. Gone back to using PCDJ VRM , maybe not as good as VDJ but at least it is reliable .PLEASE HELP !

thanks i think this is a windows glitch , not vdj which is leading to the screen saver to be incorrectly loaded , i will research this and look for a fix and get back to you :)

Thanks ,
i don't think it is the screensaver being loaded , because correct me if i am wrong , when this happens you can't get the screen back , and if it was the screensaver as you say , when touching the mouse or anything else it would bring the screen back. As i said earlier there's no option but to power down the laptop and restarting it , and it must be vdj because this only happens when using the program, i have done 6 hour or even longer sets with PCDJ with no problem.

Try going back to version 3.4, works like a charm and none of those problems.

I don't think windows is his problem??

No , i don't think so either, it must be something associated with VDJ as everything else is absolutely fine.

I'm using a Dell D600 - win XP SP2 with 1GB of ram. version3.2 blew up. 4.2 works like a charm. then I buy an acer 1.6.mhz 1gb ram - win xp sp2 and the blank screen happens - I also have dell d410 that ROCKs but the blank screen thing happens at intermittent times- only good thing is that the apps doesn' stop playing - I can fade to my back up laptop - All settings between Dell 410 and Dell 600 are the same down to the power management and screen frequency. Anyone know how to get back to earlier version of the app.

i think this is some sort of windows bug , as a blank screen or screensaver keeps running while im completing a resource demanding activity in reason 3 , when the program is processing the screensaver thinks no activity is ocuring and loads up and the pc hangs for a while

i havent had the same in virtualdj yet

3.4 , 4.2 its not the problem the problem is a messed up windows install

Hi ,
without sounding rude , i think you are missing something here , it has nothing to do with the screensaver or whatever . I have a limited knowledge of computers and the problem here is not a screensaver issue , i know programs do that when idle , i have all the power settings to always on and screensaver off . This happens whilst using the program , the screen just goes green as previously said and not black, nothing can be done to resolve this problem execept to pull the mains lead out and momentarily disconnecting the battery and restarting the laptop and then it comes back on and it might run ok for a while.
