Topic: getting frustrated with vdj

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I t seems that a lot of users on here are using home pc's to run vdj. that's not going to work for me i need to be mobile im in and out of clubs and bars, weddings etc weekly and it is not practical for me to carry a full computer around. I tried to get vdj to work on my laptop but the video freezes and craps out.
i use serato for all my gigs but really would like to do the video thing now and not wait for serato to get theirs working. anybody here using a laptop to rn videos at their gigs and how does it perform.??
what are your laptop specs.

BIGMARK why don't you get something like this for example
they are smaller, more portable then a desktop and can be setup in various ways to ensure you have proper power and a video card. Laptops and video are a hit or miss depending on the card being used.

Hi. I don't play regular videos but sometimes I fool around. The video play with no problem. I have a Asus G2p laptop (dual core2duo T7200 at 2Ghz, 2GB ram, ati mobility radeon X1700 with 512MB, 160GB Hdd). You can see it here: http://www.hothardware.com/viewarticle.aspx?articleid=899

Another way to do it is just like Cyder and many other users. have a rackmount PC in a cube. the cube holds the PC as well as a 17" LCD monitor that flips up so you can easilly carry the whole PC in a box. and if you really want to get technical with it you can always throw in a dual CD deck inside with a 19" mixer and use TCCD along with VDJ all in a box.

I've seen that kind of setup for weddings and its great to have your whole setup in a box. just hook up 3 cables directly to the box (power, left speaker and right speaker (if using powered speakers that is or you can send those to the amp)) and your done setting up.

check out Cyder's blog for pics and details on his systems.

Best Regards

cannot carry a cube, im a club dj and most booths are limited on space, the owners get scared when you bring in that sort of stuff. I need vdj to work from a laptop or it is useless to me. I travel light and far dont have time to bring a load of gear.
If u watch top dj's most of whom use serato all have laptops, I just want to be able to spin videos just the way I play mp3's now.

Nearly every club I spin in, cube rack is not an option. Period.

i would say don't get vista yet and don't get xp media center edition, get 2 gigs ram or more and be sure your laptop has a good or excellent video card......tweak system as needed

And none of them are doing video with their laptops and Serato. My priority is stability, not how much stuff I have to carry, or hook up. I do what it takes, to get the job done. I play in a club, and bring a cube, 5 days a week. Even if I play a night shift, and have to be back for the day shift, I take my stuff home. Your first priority seems to be how light you can travel, and that's OK. You are the one to set your priorities. There are guys on here that are doing video with laptops, maybe it's a matter of tweaks, or maybe a computer upgrade.

Yes, a cube rack will not work, in any booth I've seen. But, a cube like the shuttle pictured above, will work in every club I've been in.
