I use the ASUS sound on my MOBO - sound is comparable to the soundblaster.

I think Sound Blaster has better dynamics than any integrated sound chip except for Sound Storm by Nvidia.

Actually when It comes to Onboard sound in the last year or so with vista and Analogue systems Sound Max codec VS soundblaster, You could debate for hours which is better.

Truth be told Neither is what I would call "high end".

But in terms of sounding "nice" and "good". Both are about the same. Both work for 6.1 sound etc.

I use intergrated sound because It's just easier. - no extra bits of hardware to worry about.

Kinda like which pick-up is better;
Ford, Dodge, or Chevy, or Toyota.

Take your pick, all about the same anyway.
