Well the first problem is that you own a Packard Bell --- love it - not! Just joking...
Hey, sounds like you had a gremlin there. Little power flux or something. Just keep chugging away. It sounds like your data is still fine. Also, is your data on an external drive? And what brand of drive is it? You might have just hit a spin down or spin up cycle that got a bad read.
Let me know?

hi cstoll
thanks for getting back, noticed earlier you were on down time, coffee break maybes or lunch (lazy sod) so popped out, anyway external is a 400gb freecom with 278gb free space, just gone back onto lappy after leaving it running while out and has come up with a "runtime errorr 6016, not enough space for thread data", does that help with your prognosis doctor...thanks

Sound like your visit to the computer repair doctor didn't repair everything.
I will ask the DevTeam if it is significant to them. Maybe they can comment.

Did you disable the ID3Tags reading in the config : "Never Read" ? What do you have : "Read ASAP" ?
Same question for "Search Database" : "Add manually" or "Add automatically" ?
How much RAM do you have (in Megabyte please: MB) ?
