I have a new External Sound Card that a friend gave me and was wondering if it would work for use with Cue 5.0
I'm also using DMC2 / Behringer VMX 1000 / Sony Laptop.
Below are the External Soundcard description,

*USB sound is an USB audio controller. It supports 32KBz, 44.1khz.(which two need driver or applicatioin software support) and 48KHz sampling rate in digital recording, 48KHz sampling in analog recordin and 48KHz in digital/analog audio playback.

Only R, L channel PCM audio in 5.1 channel can be conveyed in digital playback mode. In analog playback mode, it supports 6 channels codec for analog playback.
*In digital recording mode, it receives S/PDIF digital audio input and sends back to PC through USB. Three sampling rates; includes 32KHz, 44.1 KHz are automatically locked internally, in analog recording mode, fixed 48KHz sampling rate is supported by analog audio recording.

What is the Brand and Name of the card ?

Looks like it would work as just a sound card. Not sure about if you would be planning on using Timecode as I don't see anything about ASIO support.

Thanks for your help.

Its a Moveable USB 6 Channel 5.1 PCI External Sound Card.
I'm planning on using it just for headphones and (2) Channels on the Mixer.
I'm not using timecode.
I found a Picture of it online accually Ebay.

E-bay Link

Copy and paste in browser.

Thanks cstoll

Well after looking at it... I think you can do a lot better with a more professional card. I would put a $25 card out there and expect the greatest in quality. Plus there is no BRAND. Where would you get support or updated drivers ? I would keep looking... spend some good money and get a good USB sound card - Gigaport AG - http://www.floridamusicco.com/proddetail~prod~gigaportag.htm

And use the PFL/CUE capabilities of the mixer and not a sound card's channel. I use to have that mixer.. the PFL is good for it.

Sorry what do you mean PFL/Cue capabilities of the mixer and not a sound card channel?

Also, do you think the DJ/iO is a better sound card?

I really like the the mixer also but the mic vol is really touchie and if you have your headphones on and talking on the mic it doesn't come through the headphones. Atleast mine doesn't.

Thanks for your help

OK... Most DJ mixers have a CUE or PFL button that allows you to listen to what is being played on that channel. The VMX1000 has a PFL button on each channel. Look below the EQ knobs, there is an EQ Bypass button then the PFL button. When you press the button that channel is routed to the headphones.

Also with most DJ mixers there is a knob that allows you to hear just the channels that have the PFL active, or just the MAIN output, or a blend (mix) of both. The VMX1000 has that knob in the bottom right of the mixer. All the way left - PFL only. All the way right - MAIN only.

As for talking on the mic and hearing it in your headphones? Well that brings up an old Sound Engineer to Drummer joke on why drummers always want to hear the kick drum in their monitor -- do you really need to know that you just put your foot down on the pedal to hit the kick! Do you really need to hear yourself talk ?

Sorry, after I posted the message I do know what you ment with the PFL .. sorry

And Mic and Headphone thing is just many years in Radio & Mixshows and a old habbit lol

I liked that USB Sound Card you sent me the info on. Is that what you use?

Thanks for your help

Yes, I use that sound card.
